Comedy and Tragedy

“Comedy is tragedy plus time”
by Carol Burnett

I think that I found this quote so incredibly profound because I have developed this habit of over dramatizing things that I’m going through. In reality, when we step back and look at what we are doing in our lives, it’s all just an experience to enhance our own existence. No one is making us do the things that we are doing; we choose to do them. And then, at least in my case, I choose to stress out and be miserable while I am doing the things that I say I WANT to do in the first place.

Am I making any sense? Sometimes I feel like I am talking in circles.

THERE I GO AGAIN… over dramatizing and over-complicating things so that I am confused, stressed out and overwhelmed. I even do it with this blog. I spin around in circles trying to say things that are interesting and profound, when really the whole point of this thing is just to express my ideas and hear what you all think as well. Maybe some of you are laughing at the silliness of my pontification right now!

I’ll laugh with you. HA HA HA

Ok… So, I need to remind myself that everything is a comedy and, if I want, I can cut out the time I spend freaking out and make all “tragedy” comedy now. I just need to pull my head out of my bum and stop bringing the drama home from work.

Tom Welling said something beautifully enlightening to me the other day at work. He said, “In the end, Allison, it is everything and it is nothing. It is all just for the experience,” and at that moment, on the Kent Farm, with a man dressed in a silver body-suit flying behind us, I really understood what he was saying to me. And… started laughing! Every moment is about *that* moment, not about the next one I am going to live and not about the ones I just finished living. So I just need to enjoy the ride!
Like they always say “life is a journey”, I want my to be a fuckin’ fun one!

Ciao for this week and thanks for you patience!

Allison

    Hey dear Allison, como vai?

Well, there´s a while that i don´t come here. I completely forgot that i used to come here and comment about your opinions. I´m sorry but i´m here again.

I think i understood all you have said: We have to enjoy the moment not for the next moment but enjoy because this moment, is the only and will never repeat again. This is what i´m trying to do and i think each day is a new day for me.

I hope everything is ok with you. I miss to see you acting because the Smallville´s episodes are repeating! And i still didn´t saw the last episode, i mean, i saw but i think it has a second part.

I promise that i will come back as soon as i remember :D

    Take care,

    Bye

Hi, Allison… I agree with you and I loved the quote!
I don’t know if you’re going to read this, but I want to thank you for all you’ve written, specially the last posts… You make me think a lot, Allison xD!! I don’t know how I can say right what I’m thinkin’ now… but sometimes we forget that our lifes are to do what we want to do… And we do what the world wants, hoping that in this way we’re going to be loved. But the only thing we get is going stressed and sad… And it seems like a circle… But we are living to learn, to have fun and to be happy. Yesterday I read an article about that… But sometimes (to me) is very difficult to change what I’m doing… Even when I’ve noticed how is being my life… I hope it’ll change… Thanks for all Allison! You’re helping me with this problem…
I hope you’re going to live the life you want to live!!!

    Kisses from Chile =)

Just in case you haven’t gotten around to translating the portuguese quote: “Felicidade é a certeza de que a nossa vida não está se passando inutilmente.” Érico Veríssimo
    (rough translation via spanish)
“Happiness is being sure that our life is not being wasted”

    (More poetic translation)
True joy is in knowing that our lifetime isn’t worthless

(the word “inutil” translates as “useless/worthless”, which isn’t usually applied to “life” in the english language)

Anyhow, an awesome quote that I hope you can enjoy as much as I did.

As to your own quote: I prefer to see life as a comedy. Bad things happen, things need to get done, but the longer you brood on those things the less you live life.

    Hi Allison!

It’s great to hear from you again. I totally agree on what you say, and Tom’s advice is great. It’s just a matter of living the present, you don’t have to care about the past or the future, but of course sometimes you have to think how the present will influence on the future….

Be sure that you aren’t the only one who tend to over dramatize everything, nowadays all of us stress out just because of simple things, and that’s what impede us to live “the” moment.

Just relax, try to be surrounded by the people who love you and by all of us!!! Your fans… lol.
I really enjoy listening from you and I love all your topics, writing on this blog is kind of a therapy, lol…. In my case I feel motivated, I just want to share my feelings with you and the rest…
    Thank you for that Allison!!!!

I’m leaving now. Just remember how many people love you and that will definetly give you strength!!!
Greet the rest of Smallville cast…..

    See ya!
    Enjoy your week….
    Bye.

P.S: Try to upload more pictures!!!!! lol….

you should practice yoga or meditation too it will be good to not feelin so stressed.

can’t wait to the season premiere of smallville!!!
take care!! greetings from mexico :)

Lately I feel the same way. Maybe taking things seriously offers us a glimpse of how far we’ve gone, or want to go. From being an actress, actor, or that other person in a coffee shop, its something to just see an expression and that says more than a few words.

Just by closing your eyes, a few things come to mind, hopefully a moment of clarity, or hope. Whatever it may be, it must be promsiing. Best wishes.

Oh, and wonderful though Carol Burnett is, a nod to Karl Marx might be in order: “Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.” The Eighteenth Brumiare of Louis Bonaparte (1852), p.7

  • eitje

you said before that your favorite time of the year is the break, where you get to go off and travel around the world, seeing new things and enjoying new experiences.

maybe you could consider comparing that yearly travel life to your daily work life. if you can find differences, then adjust in whatever way you feel is appropriate and judge what comes next. :)

    hey Allison,

I just stumbled across you’re site today, while looking for more info about smallville(have become totally addicted to the show recently, also your ‘s and tom welling’s characters are my favourites). I read through some of your latest blogs and felt compelled to comment.
I believe that by being open to all the amazing possibilities life throws at us we invite laughter and happiness.it’s all to easy to stress and worry about things, over- thinking is a very human trait. Sometimes when I watch my cat play, she’s sooooo totally engrossed in that moment and i think to myself, if only I could stop in time and just be.I read somewhere(i’m sure many have heard the expession) “life is what passes us by, when we’re busy planning ahead”,how true that saying is. Live in the moment…

Also a note on loneliness, in one of your previous blogs you mentioned how difficult you find it being alone. We all feel that tug sometimes, i’m currently working as a live-in animal care assitant looking after 20 rescue cats and yes I’m the only one here,i go through some days not talking to anyone and have even taking up singing to the cats(madness slowly taking over), but what this time has taught me is that I’m stronger and more capable of handling stressful and emotional situations, than I ever gave myself credit for. I’m also no longer scared of being alone with my thoughts.I’m sure you are a very capable and strong person,we all have times in our lives when we question ourselves and the paths we’re walking along, but as long as you listen to and follow your inner voice you will find what you’re looking for…And as always music is a great helper.

Anyway, enough rambling, I have to go and feed some kittens and spend time with some of the feral mad ones.

    Belive in yourself,anything’s possible,
    love and hugs,sandra

Hey Allison!!!! I don’t know how you do but I laugh a lot with you hehehehe!!!
you are totally funny!!!! hehehe!!! I love reading your words!
and I see how you grow up day by day.

I understand when you say that you are talking in circles. I use to do it too!!
I’m afraid is about the miles of thoughts we have at the same time hehehe! You know that women think of everything almost all the day.. well.. all the day hehehe

So, I am happy you are better than before and I’m happy you see the life how the life really is: happy, sad, interesting, boring…
Life is how we build it and the direction we take in every decision and thought
however the most important thing is LEARNING in every experience we live, be good, be bad and enjoy every little second we live day by day.

I use to live such as if the tomorrow never comes!
Because of it, I use to say “I love you” the people I love and my dog Lois of course!!! hehe she’s the best!!! hehehe

hey allison, you should write about your pets someday in this blog!!
I know that you love the animals and it could be a pretty blog!!

    take care allison
    Love ya!!!

Hey Allsion!! I would first love to say that I am such a big fan of YOU. Not just your talents, but also the kind of personality you project into your blogs. I’m a big fan of Smallville and hope you get much more screen time as Kristin Kreuk’s character fades into the background.

Don’t stress out too much over events in your life. Being an overly analitical mind myself, I know this can be hard to do when you have down time. But it also keeps the dramatic juices flowing. And that I think is essential to good acting performances. Just find a way to keep it all in perspective. If you need to vent, you have friends that I’m sure would let you. If not, you can always email me. I’ve spent some time in counseling for all the stress in my life as well. My daughters happen to think I’m a great listener and advice giver my ex- used to think so too ..LOL). So if you feel the need … email me!!

Be well … Live Long and Prosper!

  • -Kevin-

What Carol Burnett said, and what Tom Welling said, are very true, though it is your humanity that prevents them from being personally relevant all the time. It is your humanity that attaches meaning and significance to particular events, that produces highs and lows, peaks and valleys. Without it, you would never develop any sense of perspective, or any sense for those moments that truly are meaningful.

Thinking, feeling, sensitive people need to be reminded to gather a little perspective from time to time. It’s important to have people in your life that can throw that missing element into the mix. If, on the other hand, you were a perpetual-motion machine, never stopping to think and absorb, to interconnect ideas and form concepts, to recognize trends and predict outcomes, to analyze and synthesize, you wouldn’t be much of person. I don’t think you’d be much of an actor, either.

I prefer to be the thinker-feeler type that has to be provided a frame of reference from time to time, as opposed to the constant-mover that doles out the advice. It’s a continuum, so most people will fall somewhere in the middle, but I prefer people on our end of the spectrum.

Allison, Worry is something we all do. We all have this we want to still do, thing we dont want to miss, people who mean the world to us, and dreams we havent chased yet. Do take worrying as a bad thing, when you worry remember that you have family and friends who care and love you, if you make a wrong choise or mess up they will be there to help you back up and when you are your usually amazing self they all will congratulate you. We all worry and all take chances, so having fun and laughing with one’s self will keep worrying at bay, plus writing it here is cool. None of us would be here if we didnt all care and want to know what makes one of this world’s finest who she is inside. Keep believing in yourself and always smiling, Mike

Whoa! What’s with the f-bomb Allison?? Guess you were a little caught up in the moment. Anyhow, I am very good at making the simplest thing overly complicated!!! :) Tom was certainly right on when he told you the other day life is about living “in the moment” for the present is truly all we have, and I am thankful for each one. My brother posed a question to me about something the other day, “aren’t you worried about…?” Anyhow, it dawned on me then how unnecessary worrying is, so I replied to him, “okay, I am worried to death, does that change the situation?” Then a moment later I told him, “okay, now I’m not worried, so explain to me how worrying makes a difference except to put undue stress on me?” The funny part is, my brother did not have an answer!! :-)

George Bernard Shaw once said, “My way of joking is to tell the truth, it’s the funniest joke in the world.” Profound words, and once to reflect on as you enjoy all the moments of your life.

    Kind regards.

    Hey Allison,
I Agree with that, I try to make every second of every minute worth it. I’m a very very goofy and funny full of energy type of person. I like to laugh and making people laugh. My friends and I get way uber hyper sometimes so were super crazy and we do really stupid things together (Good times, good times I laugh every time I remember dose things we do) We sometimes make no scenes at all but it’s so funny! we just start to laugh and do a silly dance, singing along to a really weird song. {By now you may be thinking “What a weirdo huh ?” lol haha}but that’s what I love about everyday laughing and smiling at everyone!

Haha I think I am in love for the simple fact that you said fuck in your last blog and have it on a website.. THAT makes me laugh.

Love Smallville and have totally geeked out for the last month and watched them all. Laughed and cried through the various seasons and think its amazing that you and the other actors of the series can make people feel things like that by playing a part in a story. Stories are very powerful parts of life for some (myself include) and I find myself shaped by them. Dont get me wrong I do get out and live when away from work but the hero idea about superheros is very strong. I work with kids and hope that I help shape their lives and make them into better people.

Keep up the amazing work and pass on congrats to everyone (lol like I know them… :P ) Looking forward to Season 7.

I was shocked when I stumbled upon this site, I expected just another celebrity site with like random facts about them and some pictures splashed here or there but seeing a blog entry and not just ANY blog entry but one that makes sense and is actually inspiring surprised me to no end. In a good way. I’m glad you have your head on straight. Keep on keeping on basically.

  • Mark C. Potts

Allison, Sometimes I feel like I’m reading about myself when I read your writings. It’s rather spooky. Anyway, one of my favorite sayings that I use in life is: “If at first you don’t succeed, go for the entertainment value”.
I wish more people could be honest with themselves and others as you are. There are so many plastic people out there with no thought processing, it’s like just reading the book cover without reading the book. You are quite a book, plus a beautiful cover.
If you get a chance, check out the biography of Steve McQueen on video. It shows how somebody can be deep and strive for what is actually right. Plus, he loved life and it loved him back. He was quite a guy. James Coburn was another good one. On the female side, it’s hard to beat Kate Hepburn, she was awesome.
As they say in Karate, “Keep on Kickin’”. LUV and Peace.

I feel so bad that have been messing out on this blog but I’m here now. I just listen to clip of you singing and I have to say you have a damn good voice. Any interest in musicals? I also want to say that I just saw clips from the CW source. Thanks for the spoilers and it such a joy to see someone so down to earth.

On to the quote for the week. I often find my self laughing at the tragedies in my life. To many times I can see myself over thinking it thus everything about life is shit. But the truth is I think I have pretty darn good. A husband, in grad school, wonderful parents and great friends. I have all these great people in my life and I’m doing what I want to do so often look back on something I was so stressed over and felt like it would be the end of the world and laughed.

No worries about the talking in circles. I think we all fall victim to it from time to time.

I’m not really thrilled about Smallville this season but I wish you all the best and hope you are still having a great time with it.

    Hi Allison,

I can understand what you’re saying, like, things we do comes back to haunt us, and how we concern too much about the future. Well, I think this is completely normal, specialy for a extremely busy person like youself.
I’m a brazilian guy, and the verb “to worry”, translating, is “preocupar”. This word, in a formal translation to english, means “to occupy before happen”. See? We should not worry about things that might happen, or things that we can do nothing about. I’m not saying to do not worry with anything. What I’m trying to say is, worry about what really matters, and that’s all.
Best wishes and keep up the excelent work!

    ALLISONNN:
the first thing that came to my mind reading your post was… SCHOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! argh so irritating!!! and the famous word, SO STRESSING!!! i just finished exams (I GOT HIGH SCORES!! YAYYY except for… …) and now all my projects and notebook revisions are due for wednesday argh i hate that, when i was in school in the US the teacher didn’t even look at my notebook but in my country is totally the opposite… notebook presentation has a mark! and we have to decorate and have our notebooks with all the things that the teacher copies in the blackboard every day, everything! it’s obligatory! oh and also i have to talk for half an hour about the indohina war and in the same day to talk 10 minutes about the political situation about my country (which i haven’t even investigated yet)… what else… i’ll make a list!!
    I have to…
    monday!
-finish my art proyect (paint sakura card captor)
    -exhibition about the indhina war
-exhibition about the international petroleum company

    Tuesday
    -present my physics homework
    -geometry oral test
    - english final exam! hahaha that’s easy!(i speak spanish)

    Wednesday
    -oral exam of spanish TT.TT
    -present my sakura drawing
    -algebra notebook revision
    -economy homework

    thursday
    -Biology notebook revision
    -Mathematical reasoning notebook revision
    -Spanish notebook revision
-present an album about the novel “pride and prejudice” (i feel stupid and desperate because i haven’t read it yet)

    friday
-show my physics project to the teacher (i dunno what proyect to do… i was thinking about doing a rube goldberg machine, in my country few people know about them)
    -aritmetic notebook revision
    -trigonometry too
    - and my most hated subject CHEMISTRY!!!!!!!!!!!ARGH I HATE IT!!
in my monthly exam i got a 6 (the highest score in Peru is 20, from 1-10 you fail and from 11 to 20 you pass) HOW AM I GOING TO TEL MOM?? TT.TT save me! she’s is going to crucify me! I’m a dead girl… .. ..

if my mom finds out, the next day the headlines are going to say:
“Girl dies tragically after telling her mom, she failed chemistry”
this is going to be hard, wish me luck allison!

Allison, i realised i feel good writing evrything down… i should create a blog =D but first i have plenty of homework to do!! hehe
as i’m writing this i feel as if you were listening to me.. and i like it… maybe you are never going to read this but… writing this makes me really happy.
    Thanks allison!

    Hi Allison!

You understood Tom’s thought while a man with a silver body-suit was flying behind?, seems totally hilarious! jajaja Besides I wasn’t there, I could visualize the whole situation. You’re very funny! :D

Getting inside what Tom said, it’s a nice point, I’ve already read, received advices and thoughts about that topic. We ought to live the moment and enjoy everyday fully, because each moment is a new chance to change our destiny and be happy. It’s interesting, but the problem I find out is the possibility of losing the perspective of life and the challenges that have been planned for the future. It’s needed to define a kind of limit to don’t forget what we are and what we want to live. Honestly, I had left those ideas pass by, but now you’ve left me thinking about them once again.

Patience? I feel plenty delighted of reading more and more about your thoughts. You’re doing a great job for yourself and for everyone who visit this blog. Each blog’s entry promotes thousands of thoughts, ideas and solutions. You’re extremely intelligent for having created this space.

I like the way you talk about your problems and fears, specially to so many people at the same time. It’s really valuable to see that you don’t care about showing your vulnerable side. In contrast of a huge group of the society who always repress their feelings just to seem strong and perfect. I think the beauty resides in the imperfections.

So extend your ideas, keep laughing about yourself and the situations you live and smile a lot. Sometimes I think what might happen if i get a total balance of my emotions?, now I realize that if it were so life wouldn’t be so interesting as it is! We’re human, we are weak, we need each others and we were born to be more than happy.

    Bye Alli

    >I absolutely agree with you. There is no past, there is no future,
    >there is only the individual moment.

I hate to be negative but when I read this sort of thing I realize how happy I am to be an academic and not a thespian. “No past … no future” means there is no history no culture no politics no justice and no possibility of change. “No past … no future” means that, like infants, the only thing “in *that* moment” is wants. I want world peace, I want to nail a scene, I want a journey of self-discovery, I want an iPhone. Moment after moment, want after want, until you don’t know what you want, but you just know you want something. “In *that* moment” we are just consumers, of products, of experiences, and of life itself. We’re customers of our own lives, and we demand satisfaction: “I want m[ine] to be a fuckin’ fun one!”. It is the perfect statement of post-modern capitalism. Life itself is our own product.

Sure, I know this is an actor’s promo website, and these are heavy comments, but that’s the point, really. Allison Mack is very obviously a well-meaning and intelligent person with genuine commitments, so if not here, then where does one stand and say, hey, enough already. We don’t need more people telling us to buy in the moment. We need more people telling us to think about where we have come from and where we are going.

Try Jean Baudrillard’s work from the early 1970s. Amazing stuff on consumer society and the shopping mall as a factory for the production of consumer desire. Written nearly 40 years ago and more relevant than ever.

  • joey

I know what you mean. sometimes i over dramatize but once i remember who i am i have peace again. yea, don’t forget who you really are and you will feel good.
    joey

  • Magie

Allison never worry about keeping us entertained, you entertain us with the mere fact you like hearing what we have to say and that you want to talk to us. And the fact that you are comfortable enough with us to share your feelings about your life only hightens our respect of you. It makes you so much more relatable, as a celebrity it might be easy to ignore the fans and forget them, but you don’t allow that to happen. It shows how much character and heart you truely have.

Like I said, sharing your deep feelings helps us to relate to you, I definetly relate to you on many levels. I can make things bigger than they really are, I hate when I realize I have done it because I feel so over dramatic. Then I also try my best to make comedy out of tragedy, I mean there are times when you just can’t. But we learn to move on as best we can and live our lives, we never forget those moments but don’t dwell on them either.

What Tom said is beautiful and very true, it is very close to what my friend Chris used to say “Gotta Live Life To Tha Fullest”, and that he did. He is an inspiration to me, he never seemed to have a bad day or attitude and since his death last summer I have been doing my best to live that way. I know I fail miserably compared to him, but at least I am trying.

I hope you enjoy your ride as much as you should because you deserve a magnificent one!! *Ciao for now*

  • Lee

    Hi Allison,
Not to try and keep you on the path of profound thoughts or anything but, there is always the question of free will if you really deep think it there isn’t any proof that it exists. Or that things arn’t going to happen the way they do whether we think we are making choices or not. Lets face it human thought might only be some chemical transmitters in our brains. With us having really no say in the choices that we think we are making. Of course we are influenced by outside stimulus (which means if you read this I will have changed your thoughts in some way even if you thought what I had to say was crap) from others around us but they are basically in the same situation and would have no freewill themselves. So anyway who cares I guess “Nothing really matters anyone can see nothing really matters to me” “ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS”.
Sorry if I got to deep,
    Lee

    Hey Ally,

It sounds like your a major thinker! Join the club! If you think to much about something you can go to far into it and are in danger of losing yourself. Then suddenly who you are and what you do are insignificant. It’s scary.

But I wouldn’t want to be someone who lives day by day not thinking about there place in the world. Those people miss so much!

It’s hard not to over dramatize your life when your the one living it! The world does revolve around you! No matter who or what you are, the world revolves around you.

I’m a firm believer in thoughts impacting life. In positive energy helping people and negative thoughts hurting them. I also believe that once a thought or idea is out there in the universe its just a matter of tapping into it.

Anyway stay in the shallow end or on the surface coz when you think to far into things its really hard to come back to reality.

Everyone is a drama queen about there own life and problems! It’s hard not to be when there staring you in the face!

Your world does revolve around you!

    Love Haylie

    Allison,

It seems to me based on your two most recent posts that, other than your love of Rumi, Tom Welling is quite the gifted philosopher. Perhaps he should write a book. I like the way he thinks, and he seems to express a very grounded view of acting and life in general.

Besides Tom, I know someone else who would do well to work on writing a book – YOU. Even though you feel that you “run in circles,” you have a gift for the printed word. Keep it up, Allison! You have a lot of people who love your happy energy, your enthusiastic style, your passion for life, and your terrific work! Never forget the gifts that God has given you.

Here is a beautiful word that the Lord spoke to me in prayer one day. I have to remind myself to say this daily. I think it applies to you as well: “I am the perfect fit for the space where I exist now and am growing into.”

Be blessed, Allison, and keep writing! You are in my prayers as you continue living in every moment!

hello!!!!…hey I always come when your blog is 500000years old….ha ha…. well I’ve been having trouble whit my computer lately…

so I don’t know if you read my messages in the first place….
but I have to tell you this: is really scaring the fact that we are so alike… everytime you write something new … I think ” oh my God, this is exactly what I believe or this hapenned to me once”…

I understand what is hapnning to you…. I over dramatize things that are not that big…. we are two missunderstud freaks…. don’t get mad…but It’s the truth….

I always remember something I heard: “Caminar por el balcon, ya no es una tentacion. decime la verdad si total no me voy a tirar.”

(walk over the balcony is not a temptacion anymore. tell me the truth I’m not going to throw away anyway)

or something like that in English….

it’s means that you don’t have to over damatize a litlle problem…and if someone, because of the way you are, doesn’t want to tell you the truth… tell him or her that…. you are not going to kill yourself …

    well…girl I going now….

I bothered you enough for today….

    so Good luck

    and Ciao…

    Vanyi-k

    Hey Allison:

Another profound thought from a very profound lady. : )

I’ve always thought that life and what happens to you was more fun then the destination you were heading towards. For example, it’s a lot more fun setting up a sale at the church than the aftermath of the sale. Hope that makes some sense—not much sleep last night—very active muse.

I believe also that it’s all experience to enhance our existence but I also believe that what we do, how we handle our experiences—what experiences we go through, also help us help other’s through similar or same ones too.

For example, if you’ve lost a loved one in your life, you can help somebody through a similar situation. Or if you’ve dealt with somebody who’s a little out there and then another friend has the same problem, you can talk them through—you have experience.

Drama does need a little comedy—in real life and reel life. Something to take the edge off. I’ve always admired shows like that (John on The West Wing, always does that for me)—that deal with drama and yet uses comedy to offset it. As to real life—well, a good joke or hug does take the edge off a bad day where you wished you hadn’t gotten out of bed.

As I say, hope that all makes sense up there—my muse does not keep bankers hours and even though she is that way, I love her to pieces—I ain’t complaining, in other words. Humor and drama is she.

To David Dwight Hayes, Keep up the good work. You always have the best blogs!

That must be why I always overhear people calling me “bloghead” … at least that’s what I think they’re saying.

I just recently discovered your blog, and was pleased to see that you, like your character Chloe, truly are deep, smart, and cool! Allison, I am quite a bit older than you (40, to be exact — which I know sounded ancient to me when I was in my 20′s), but I completely hear what you are saying, I think. I get caught up in things that I really want to do, but sometimes it’s just too much. You sound like a really good person who has a hard time saying “no.” You are smart to be aware of this dilemma, and the answers don’t come easily. Some people know their own limitations without giving it a second thought; others (like me) take years to figure out that they, sadly, can’t do it all. (I’ve been having this conversation with my therapist for many years!)

Also, I wanted to share one of my favorite quotes that helps me keep things in perspective: “All your tomorrows will take care of themselves if today is well lived.”

Best wishes to you on your journey,

    Mimi

Allison,I just have to start off by saying that I am a huge fan the the show…(I have been there from the start) I read your blog today and I just want to say that life is a great gift…It is to be enjoyed even at its hardest times cause you just have to think someone out there has it worst then you…So when you think things are going bad just remeber you have friends to talk to,there are some people that don’t even have that…Well there a lot more I would like to say but I have to go to work.Live happy and free, and my the wind always hit your back and the sun on you face

    Your friend & fan,
    Dave

PS — I didn’t attribute the above quote because, I’m embarrassed to say, it’s from a fortune cookie!

    Hi, Allison!

Everyone has his weakness and yours is to over-dramatise things. You sometimes worry too much about whatever you do because you take everything- including your craft- very seriously. You do it from your heart, and it shows. I don´t know of anyone who shares things with others the way you do.

Your impressions on your blog aren´t mere ramblings but show how generous you are when it comes to sharing your experiences with your fans.

As regards Tom´s advice, CARPE DIEM, I´d say it´s the best he could have given you.

Everyone´s really looking forward to seeing you this season. I´m from France and, therefore, I´ll have to wait until the beginning of spring for the premiere; and when the time comes you can be sure I´ll be sitting in front of my TV to tune in SV.

Your work on the show deserves more recognition than what it´s got so far. You´ve certainly grown up as a person and an actress and you never stop surprising us with your talent.

    Keep up the good work!
