Want to go on an adventure with me?

So often, I find myself racing through my life, so focused on where I’m going that I don’t stop to enjoy where I am. My friend Sara said to me once that we are so busy acting as humans doing that we forget we are humans being. My God, did this ever resonate with me. So, recently, I have really tried to focus on acting as a human being, and because of this, I am so enjoying the process of creating and experiencing each and every moment.

This being said, I was reading an article recently about an amazing artist/actress/writer/filmmaker named Miranda July, and I found out about an online project she has been doing with another gentleman for the last few years. It’s such a beautiful thing that she’s doing… She and her partner come up with different assignments for anyone to participate in accomplishing, and they have created a site for people to post and share the completion of these assignments. If you want to look at it the site is learningtoloveyoumore.com, and it’s awesome! I was so inspired by this concept that i decided to make my own project like this for my site. I was sharing this idea with one of my best friends, and she told me about something that she and her husband used to do in which they would create an annual calendar filled with their own “celebration days”—days dedicated to celebrating or doing something they loved!

I thought this was wonderful and combined her idea with that of Miranda July… So, this is what I have come up with—an annual calendar that has 4 celebration days per month that are dedicated to different projects/assignments/creations/or events! Here is the first set! I hope you enjoy and participate in these fabulous adventures with me!

    This blog is incredible. I recently got back into watching Smallville after buying Season Six. I had to look up what the cast was up to and I stumbled upon this blog. I really like the idea of taking a picture of a person you love with a leaf you love. Brilliant!

    Hi, Allison! I’m a Smallville fan here in Brazil and was very pleased to know you have a blog, because Chloe is my favorite character in the show. I know she doesn’t exist in Superman mythology but, anyway, she’s smart, funny and the heroine many times. Sorry for my english.

    You were great in smallville. Is that who you really are? Chloe was so understanding, despite the fact that she was in love with Clark, she could still advice Clark to go for Lana. Believe me it’s rare to see ladies behave that way.
    I wish you can just be like that, except the black stuff you did with that young reporter at night.

    my name is kris and im in the army with the big red 1, which we noticed it was on the highschool wall and so we wanted to say thanks to whoevers idea that was. now being a soldier sometimes the same things happends being infantry, we get so used to haveing no feelings or specially emotions so i definatly agree on what you are tryen to do, my lil thing i do is go ride my gsxr and that helps me get my feelings and head right, well im getting ready to leave over seas again so hopefully before i deploy i might get a response back

    Hey Allison!

    I want you to know I absolutely LOVE this idea. When I look at my own journey, I am making great efforst to reach into my own soul and pull that which was creative back to the surface after so long denying Who I am in favor of What I can Make. These events are a wonderful chance to make fun the process of creativity which has been supressed for so long. My kids are into the process and have made these events a real family treat for the three of us!

    If it’s OK with you I am going to be launching my own website in a month or two and I am planning to shamelessly borrow this idea from you and Miranda!!! It’s such a great idea, I think my friends would love to continue this as well!
