More on Juicy Peach

Hey, gang! I want to start off by saying how rad you all are and how amazing it is that you’re so up for supporting Kristin and me in our creative ventures! That being said, I think it’s important that I explain a little more about what we’re doing. In typical me fashion, I got so excited about what we were doing that I really threw the cart before the horse!

So let’s take a few steps back and share with you all what it is that we’re attempting to do with this crazy little store venture! Here’s the blurb Miss Kreuk so eloquently came up with. The store itself will be launched in just a few days, and the first 10 calendars are going out as soon as the post offices open!

Not-for-profit
Juicy Peach will be a not-for-profit company based in the U.S.A. and will be official in January 2008. All products sold will come with a receipt.

Criteria for artists:

  1. Must be making less than $26,000 per year directly from your art.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen
  3. Artists who receive this grant will be creating authentic, unique, and innovative work in any of the following fine art fields: writing, performing, and visual arts, including film. Juicy Peach supports and encourages the brave act of authenticity in the pursuit of skilled professional artistry. Part of being human is to encounter and work through adversity. As an artist, there are times when adversity feels like a massive concrete wall directly in front of you, reaching just beyond where you could feasibly leap on your own. Juicy Peach is part of helping you find a way through that big, giant concrete wall.

Grant
The first Juicy Peach grant will be $1,000 and will be given when we have raised that much money. If you would like to donate your work to the store, please send your submissions to info@juicypeach.org. When your work is sold, Juicy Peach will reimburse you for your raw materials, but not your time. Profits will go directly into the grants. Juicy Peach will begin to take submissions for grants shortly.

I know a few of you have expressed concerns about the details of the not-for-profit status, but know that we’re in the process of getting together all the government and legal stuff necessary to get that finished and, in the meantime, all the profits being made are simply hanging out in an account waiting for an artist to support. :) Yay! I can’t tell you how cool this whole process is! Thank you so much for being a part of this!

    First of all this is simply a lovely idea! I’m a bit jealous it’s for US only. :) Might have participated myself too if not. But that’ll just help me focus on college right now which is the right thing to do this year.
    I also feel I should thank you too for the continuous support for the arts and not forgetting about the community! It’s a great thing to do and can’t wait to see the first Juicy Peach artists at their best! I’m sure there’ll be lots of them.
    And yes, hangovers are killers.

    I just want to say that I appreciate the people bringing up questions about where the funds are going to, and the legitimacy of asking for money from fans.

    It is the right of fans to ask questions, and I don’t for one minute think anyone was accusing Allison of anything inappropriate. I believe they were legitimate questions that needed answering.

    So please do not call people who want more information before they fork over any money “haters,” or “jackasses.”

    And I for one am very satisfied with the mission statement for Juicy Peach, and I appreciate Allison and Kristin addressing our concerns.

    If the website doesnt pull up, go on Google and type in original art online. If you click on all artists, there is a girl with the last name that starts with the letter B, go until you get to betterly, rachel. Maybe she can offer a painting to you, I think Kristin would like the Johnny Depp painting. Yea a cheap plug for her, shes an up and coming artist who can take any picture and make it look beautiful on canvas. I get nothing from this, except a sense of fullfillment for nudging her and pushing her to pursue her passion. Anyways, thers a variety of artists on there, take a look maybe you will see something you like. I send an e-card of the Depp painting, hope you get it. Happy New Year and and be great in ’08. Look forward to all of your future forms of work, and will definately be buying an autographed photo of you both. ? ?? Curious though, why not show the actual autographed picture that the buyer will be receiving??? And do you have any more $500 packages left for your Alice and Huck project???
