A Rose
by Elizabeth
A lovely rose with petals soft
A scent so sweet and light
So beautiful a flower
With colors shining bright.
But something not so savory
About the fragrant rose -
The thorns, so sharp upon the stem,
That sharpen as it grows.
Yet still lovely is the flower
Despite the thorns that prick
Just as life and love are sweet
They too have thorns that stick.
But do not fear to live or love,
Life's not exempt from pain -
So pick a rose, you may get hurt,
But you will also gain!

OH MY GOD!
In spite of my scarce knowledge of english (sorry, i'm italian and I'm only 14!), I liked a lot what you've said.
You are not only my favourite actress, you are in the first place a strong woman. Yours is a courageous speech!
Ok, here is 22.30, I must go to bed... :)
Have a nice day Allison! See you on...tv!
Lots of kisses from Italy,
Rebecca

Dear Allison,

I originally wrote this for the "General Discussion" forum on your website in hopes that you may, by some luck, find time to read my thoughts. David, the mod, advised I might be better off posting here. I truly hope you get a chance!

I'm sorry if this is a poor choice for posting in this particular forum--- I've looked around, but didn't really see a spot opportune for my thoughts. I thought I'd try here!

Allow me to start by introducing myself. My name is Chris... yes, my screen name is not creative. I live smack-dab in the middle of nowhere, Minnesota. I have dreams.... goals... ambitions. Hopes that drive me. One such hope is to create something. I don't know what just yet, but I'm learning as I go. I believe we as people were created to create, among other things. I've developed a passion for art in many forms, whether in painting, photography, music, or especially film. I'm inspired.... I was going to say "easily" but I'm not sure that's true. "Simply" would be better put. Movies, books, even just watching life in the world around me inspires. I've recently decided to pursue a Bachelor of the Arts, hoping to break into the film industry via writing and, perhaps, directing.

I've been a Smallville fan for some time now. I hope not to offend, but I enjoy Smallville not because of the writing, the plots, the effects, or even in many cases the performances. I enjoy it because I'm in love with the idea of a single person impacting the world in such a profound way, people call him "Super". I'm in love with the story of Superman, which is a creative masterpiece, but more so I'm in love with the idea behind him.

Moving on.

Small details aside, I believe we are a lot alike. Having learned some about you via this website and, in no small part, your video blogs on YouTube, it seems like we think quite a bit alike. I daresay we would probably be friends if we knew each other. I've been thinking a lot lately about how circumstance seems to dictate who a person has the opportunity to befriend, and wondering if there could be a way to change circumstances and create opportunities for otherwise unreachable relationships.

You see, it's not often I hear about someone and genuinely want to hold a conversation with them. I don't know how to say that without sounding conceited, but it's true. I find beauty and inspiration in the world, in people, and in creating things to inspire other people to create more things... but I haven't had the opportunity to meet many other people who put much stock in these. The sad truth is, where I'm from the most popular trains of thought stem from fishing, hunting, and drinking.

You have inspired me, Allison. And I wished to share that with you. I very much wanted to sit down and hold a conversation with you, but as hard as I've tried, I can't seem to change circumstance. When I learned of the Juicy Peach project of yours and Kristin's, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to sit down and talk. I've spent the last year and a half working for a radio corporation in MN, have done some free lance writing, and am taking a working holiday to New Zealand soon. I'll be visiting the Rhema Broadcasting Group. It's a Christian radio/tv corporation covering 97ish% of the country. With all those things in mind, and the fact that film is one of the fastest growing industries over in NZ, I hoped to use my skills in writing/broadcasting to spread the word on the Peach and snag an interview with you.

I knew it was a long shot, as I am no more and no less average than the next person in the eyes of a management agency. I offered head out west in exchange for an hour of your time, to do an article as well as make sure the story made it to Rhema, but your management team gave me the stiff-arm. Actually, it was just silence. I've also exchanged some emails with Tabitha, who was a great help, but after all is said and done... I guess I can't change circumstance!

I don't mean to sound as if I'm complaining or pointing fingers, please don't view this that way. I suppose I should have expected the response I received, and it's okay. But if it meant potentially gaining a friend that inspires, isn't it worth it to try and just make it possible to meet? I felt that it was, and still do.

Thank you, Allison, for what you do. Not referring to acting (thanks for that too, however), but the way you care for and inspire someone you'll probably never meet. There's more to say, but I think this is a long enough forum post, and I do need to save at least a little something in case we bump into each other on the street some day. I truly hope we get that opportunity. Apologies for writing to you in this way, I would've much rather have handwritten.... but alas.

Thank you, Allison.
