A bit about You!!

So as I’m trying to build this sort of Xanadu dream community on my website I am starting to recognize that it would be very valuable for me to find out where all of you lovely people came from and how you found me. Then, why you come back and what I should focus on to get even more people to come around as well as places I should try to link up with… aka interviews I should try and cultivate and other sites I should try and pair up with!

I hope you all wouldn’t mind too terribly if I ask a few simple questions in a poll format!

Thanks so much for being my OG dead poets society!

    “I think I’m the old fogey here…LOL. I’m 52….”

You are the same age as SmallvilleKent (post 47 above unless moderation changes the post numbers later) and only a few months older than me … and by the sound of it, far younger than I feel. I remember being ‘attacked’ based upon my age and still having an interest in Superman and I told the person that I am on the young side for Superman because he predates me … but that Superman and Tolkien’s characters are more MINE than theirs if they want to bring age into it. That she could keep the sponge with the square pants and I’d keep mine. And if this place is more about philosopy, the older you get, the more important the question about where you go when you STOP getting older becomes.

I’m Janelle, from Alberta Canada. Just turned 21. I’m a a total book freak with a music addiction who is passionate about photography and hopes to one day make a living at it. I found your site either via a google link or an imdb one I can’t really remember. I love watching Smallville and your character Chloe has long been a favorite of mine. I also love that you endeavour to communicate with your fans whenever possible because so few actors/celebs in any capacity really do that.

    David and Gnome.

My name is Friday, and I too am a Blogaholic.

It felt good to finally get that out there!

I have two left feet but I take direction well! What I lack in physical rhythm, I make up for in voice; for the Welsh were born to sing! :)

I would like to be the first to audition for the AB Musical; after all, you can’t have a musical without song! At least I hope not.

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

My last musical was a bomb.

And I thought that the Welsh were made to make grape juice!

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

… BORN to make grape juice.

  • http://traitors-stead.com Allie

Lol, blogaholics, :D heheh…I wish I had more time to devote to blogging/responding to blogs… (grrrr….I blame college.)

    Anywho,
    I’m Allie,
I’m 19 from the US. I got into Smallville last summer because I’ve always loved superheroes, and so last summer I had a lot of time on my hands and started renting the DVD’s and thoroughly enjoyed them! So anywho, one day I was browsing the internet looking for fun Smallville pictures to use to make a desktop wallpaper and stumbled onto this site! And …yeah…that’s about it! Hmmm….what else about me…..Just started my first year of college….fun fun…and I love all types of art and writing and being random and goofy. Lol. And honestly that’s about it in a nutshell.

  • Amanda

My name is Amanda, I’m a Blogaholic.

I started posting on this blog April 2007 (I looked it up) :)

It seems I have a hard time starting my day without it.

My voice is yours BA– whether it’s harmony or lead. Just let me know where the auditions are being held. :)

  • Amanda

By the way, I vote on David H. as director.

  • http://deleted Robin

    Hi Allison,

Well I’m aged 31, from South England.

I first found the site by sheer chance on your first blog in April 2007, and by your second blog I found enough nerve to leave a comment.

At that point I would never have dreamed I would be coming back to this site on an almost daily basis, I have never been “into” computers and thought I’d just check out a site of an actress whose work I was a fan of.

However, I have been totally taken aback by the thoughtful and fun topics discussed in not only yours but in everyones comments, so much so in fact that the site has transcended my original intent in visiting this site in the first place.

On many occassions the topics brought up have carried on throughout the weeks into all parts of my life , I can honestly say I’ve never expressed my own views or read so many other views on such varied topics until this site.

So much so that I have begun rinting off a lot of the comments and placing them in a folder, , which I hope to look back on in a few years time and see how much I agree or disagree with my own or whether my views have changed to some of the other comments posted here.

I hope your survey goes well, I wish you all the best of luck.

    Thank you

  • The Friday Philosopher

I don’t know about grapes David. With the weather we have, we are lucky to grow anything other than seaweed!

It’s been raining here for two straight weeks.

    Friday :)

P.S. I agree with Amanda, David H for Director!

  • Nikk

I’m addicted to this website, as well.

My friends & family are putting me on the A&E show Intervention because of my Allison addiction.

  • Robert

    HI Allison

My name is Robert, I live in the northeast of England I am 28 and I love drawing, my preferred medium is pencil although I do experiment with charcoal from time to time.
When not volunteering at my local charity shop my other interests include writing fictional stories and reading. My favourite Authors are Robert E Howard, C. S. Lewis, Anna Sewell, Jack London, Arthur C. Clarke and Oscar wild.
    How I found you?
After watching your amazing work on smallville I googled your name in search of a biography, this is when I stumbled across your website.
What makes me keep coming back?
Well I guess most of all I enjoy the thought provoking topics and questions you continue to raise, not to mention the grown up manner in which your fans respond.
This site is truly a wonderful place to visit and take part in, and has become a regular in my daily routine.
Unfortunately I have no current ideas for the growth of the site, but I’ll keep working on it.

    Bye for now.

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

Thanks for thinking of me for director, but Allison’s the one taking classes. I’m not what you would consider a leader. Me giving direction seems to cause an undeniable urge to do the opposite. The only time someone really seemed to pay attention to me and do what I said happened several years ago when I saw a dental receptionist’s two year old grand daughter beginning to explore the opening on an electric pencil sharpener with her pencil sized finger. I said, “Hey!” She stopped and looked my way and I quietly said, “I don’t think you want to do that.” The girl immediately broke out bawling. The receptionist thanked me and told me that the little girl was afraid of men. That’s the only time I can remember. Not even when I told my wife “Slow down or you’ll hit that ambulance!” was I taken seriously. Another reason I don’t even try to be serious most of the time. So, directing is out … but I might contribute a musical number or two when, if ever, my muse gets back from vacation.

    “Allison’s Xanadu”
[based upon “Xanadu” by Jeff Lynne]

A place where Allison dared to go
The blog that we came to know
    They call it Xanadu

And now, come to her site and see
What we have made is real
    We are in Xanadu

    A million fans are posting
And there you are, a rising star
An internet world and you’re here with me …
    Virtually

Xanadu – Xanadu (now we are here)
    In Xanadu
Xanadu – Xanadu (now we are here)
    In Xanadu

Xanadu your modem lights will shine
    For you Xanadu

The ideas, some echoes of long ago
You needed the world to know, they are in Xanadu

The dream that came through the Smallville years
    Outlasting most of her peers
    It came to Xanadu

    A million fans are posting
And there you are, a rising star
An internet world and you’re here with me …
    Virtually

Xanadu – Xanadu (now we are here)
    In Xanadu

Now that I’m here, now that you’re near in Xanadu

    Hi Allison,
My name is Claude. I am from Montreal. I am 50 since december 30.
I have watched Smallville from the beginning and started joining in at AllisonMackOnline and KryptonSite.

I was so happy to learn that you were actually a good person, with great ideas.. I love getting online everyday to see what great insights you have, and to discuss various topics in depth, thats why I keep coming back.
I take care of an Allison Mack french site.
    http://www.chloesullivansite
I leave comments on your blog since the beginnig. All your blogs are translate in french by Lydia.
I saw you for the first time in the movie Honey, we shrunk ourselves.
I really liked the 3 videoblogs of last autumn.
I really enjoyed your comments on the episode 3-18 Truth on DVD. It would be great to have your comments on other episodes. It could later discuss human behaviour of certain characters.
I’d like to see more recent photos though.
One of my favorite site is Internet movie data base IMDB.com.
It is a fantastic site for information, photos, trailers for films, TV series and actors.
Unfortunately, there is nothing on the theatre.

    Bye
    Claude.

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

    “Allie Mack”
[based upon (i.e. “stolen from”) the poem “Kubla Kahn” by
    Samuel Taylor Coleridge]

    In Xanadu did Allie Mack
    A modern thinker’s blog decree:
Where Arash, the sacred poster, posted
    Through caverns measureless to man
    And wordy David Hayes boasted
    Despite wise Darwin’s plea.
So on topics that proved fertile ground
For discussions spinning round and round
And bloggers barely stopping for an evening meal
To type something that might light a spark
And generate as if fruit on some productive tree
A response that for the moment made them real
And light one glowing candle in the dark.

But oh! What deep ideas though oft times slanted
Found voice amid the electronic chatter
And were answered and sometimes recanted
While others slept with minds unchallenged
And so kept their light forever covered.
Still others only read though with ceaseless turmoil seething,
While a few found posting akin to breathing.
Will those who come join as one force
Or settle merely for idle discourse?
Or try to mimic an epic poem
Despite an addled mind that’s too far gone?
And ‘mid these posting fans at once and ever,
Will they chance upon some sacred river!
Or await a signed image to be delivered?
Still many are meandering with lazy notion
That with a generous amount of posting
Fair Allison may some day give them her hand.
But fandom is like a tumult to a life filled ocean.
And ‘mid this tumult Allie heard from kin
    Ancestral voices prophesying an end!
The shadow of the blog she’d made
    Fell upon a world un-open
To ideas of which they’d spoken.
    Returning silence, thoughtlessly, in trade
It was a miracle of rare device,
A sunny thinking-blog with manners nice!

    A damsel with a dulcimer
In a vision I once saw:
    It was Allison Mack,
And on her dulcimer she played,
    Singing of love and freedom.
    Could I revive within me
    Her symphony and song.

To such a deep delight ‘twould win me,
That with music loud and long
I would build that blog in air,
That sunny blog! Those posters nice!
And all who read should see it there,
And all should cry, “Come here! Come here!
Those flashing eyes! Her stylish hair!
Weave a circle round her thrice,
For those who have her smile seen
Or ever in her presence been
Have drunk the milk of Paradise.

    [Need ... sleep ... NOW]

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

[Thank God a travelling salesman interrupted Cooleridge while writing "Kubla Kahn" or that poem would have been a LOT longer.]

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

[I meant "my version" of that poem would have been longer.]

  • http://www.daybow.com David Hayes

[Still not clear. Should give up. The loss of Cooleridge's original last part of the poem may have been a great loss to literature. The resultant shortening of my parody ... not so much.]

  • taylor nikole

    need sleep now david?
    haha

  • taylor nikole

    today in english…
we were asked to define our identity…
    and identitiy in general.
Our teacher gave us a list of quotes and we had to choose one that fit the definition of identity…
    it was extrememly difficult!

She then had us write exactly why we chose the quote, and a full page on who we are (our identity)…
it was really weird, because it gave me this time (made me) to focus on myself…
although it may seem a bit uncomfortable to really see who i am… it was a really great project and I found out alot about myself and how i think of myself.

    hmm identity….
