An evolution

My friend sent this to me and the email was titled “uh, because.” He found something that reminded him of me and shared. I, of course, loved what he shared and decidedly posted the site as quickly as I could.

This is a wonderful group of people doing truly amazing things. When the Sumerian people developed the written word, our entire species was given the gift of communication, an evolution. Because we can express and document through the written word we have the capacity to share and grow, to build and strengthen.

We also have the capacity to keep lies alive and slander innocent people. I guess it is like the scalpel in the hand of a killer or the hand of a surgeon! Again, who is responsible for the effects of such beautiful yet lethal tools? Keep writing!

    David, I’ve got quite a bit of free time at the moment and wouldn’t mind something to keep me occupied.     The trends I want to evaluate when I’m caught up is how many post only once and how many become regulars. I guess the evaluation could be expanded to what type of topics attract more comments … but that result would be skewed thanks to off topic comments … like this one.

    Taylor Nikole,

    I had a much older friend who was into the Lil’ Abner cartoon. It seems that Lil’ Abner’s hero was a cartoon character in a comic strip within the comic strip. I think the character’s name was Fearless Fosdick. He was a police detective that always managed to get shot clean through with several bullets on every case. You could see right through the guy. But he would think that getting the bullet holes was well worth it because he could always count on his commanding officer coming around after the case was solved and giving him a precious handshake for all his trouble.

    Thanks Ross. The spreadsheet is updated again on my site under the same address. Four months done … but it is all before Allison’s attempt to post daily blog entries! We are now up to a total number of 666 names people are posting comments under. Spooky.

    And Taylor Nikole, you shouldn’t be surprised that I am following through with this since YOU assigned me the task in comment #67! Don’t I always do what you tell me to do? By the way, that lake was pretty cold!

    By the way thank’s for the comment on my drawings. The ones on your site are really good too. I like the painting of the Wellington, Ohio Town Hall Spire. I suck at drawing or painting Building’s but hopefully that will improve later lol. you should make a deviantart page and post all of your art.

    Maybe Allison is allowing me to catch up. I went through 5 more blogs tonight which equalled 2 more months worth of posting. May and June just need to be data entered … but then Mid-July, Allison started posting daily.

    What I thought was neat was that, although many Allison supporters had stopped posting regularly after a while, when Allison posted the video of her singing, a lot of the old regulars came back to show their support and encouragement.

    I’m back to 13 hour days at work and doing a lot of paperwork for work that is way too much like I was doing for the Blog Statistics. So all I managed to get done today was get 5 blocks added to the spreadsheet from my notes and compile a new list. The updated spreadsheet is at the address on my site that I posted above. And it might take me a while to wade through the remaining 75 blogs. I guess Excel can generate some graphs automatically when I’m ready. So, I haven’t gotten a chance to evaluate the trends too much yet, but I do know a couple things for sure. People posted under a total of 836 unique names from January 1st through June 30th this year. I’m sure that some of the posts under the same name are by different people. For instance, I count 23 posts under the name Taylor Nikole in that time period, but I am pretty sure that they were all one time posts by 23 different people named Taylor Nickole. So, despite the numbers under that single name, I will probably have to disqualify that name from the grand prize for most posts by a single screen name …. The prize is a restraining order to keep at least 300 miles away from Allison.

    Here’s something I don’t quite understand. Is this site considered one blog with several topics/postings … or is each topic a blog?

    She’s probably the only one who was involved in each and every topic…

    I think the usual terms are that the whole thing is a blog with a number of entries, and our own two pence worth are comments.

    If Allison’s absence goes on much longer and this topic keeps growing you’re going to have fun totalling up the comments from this entry!

    I’ve got a pretty good handle on it now. I have an 8 page check list of all the names so far then make a list of the new posters on a separate sheet and don’t include them into the alphabetical order until I have a few blogs … entries … documented on paper. I also learned to limit the screen size so I can look at a few columns at a time right next to the list of names so that I don’t have to follow a long row to get to the column I am working on. And if I post a lot here, I just will have a lot of hash marks by my name … and will in … meaning I don’t have to use white out and change the name on the restraining order.
