    I’m doing one of my middle of the night wander around for a while moments and checked in. I’m still half asleep so I may not be reading this correctly. The way I see it, the lighter haired individual (the colors are screwy on my monitor so I can’t tell colors for sure … Oh ‘Hanners’ … told you I’m out of it. More proof to follow.) has claimed the scarf as her creation because she thought about the nature of it?

    I remember when someone posted some of their artwork online and I was ready to break my pencils, throw out my brushes and burn my artistic license. The artwork was amazingly photorealistic. Then I found that the ‘artwork’ was created by taking a photo found on the web, cropping it and adding a caption. Maybe that means that I can become a musician by learning to download a song or simply thinking about the lyrics until they reverberate in my soul and become my own. Being an artist is so much easier than it used to be! I gues a sequel to this would be a person actually knitting something and being told that they didn’t truly create it because they didn’t fully, mentally contemplate what they were doing as they went through the motions of creating it.

    I’m now going to turn my attentions to contemplating having a restful night’s sleep because I have never truly slept before because I never have achieved TREM — “Theoretical Rapid Eye Movement.”

    Okay, “spacetime doilies” got me. If there were two words I never thought I’d read in the same sentence… Science can be scary – sure, today we’re only cloning a few plaited oven mitts, but all it takes is one horrible warp knitting miscalculation and we’ll have an army of angry, unhinged, genetically perfect sweater vests that don’t feel pain!!!

    Hmmm. I think Hanners must talk like that a lot because while she is talking, the dark haired character isn’t paying 100% attention to her. She puts out the tip box and begins reading a book while Hanners is talking. I guess I’m wrong. If a man did that, he would be inattentive and insensitive but because it is a female, she is simply multi-tasking.

    I thought I’d share some images of me doing my first “Theorectical Directing.” There were many challenges involved but, at the end of the 5 minutes, it was well worth the experience. The only thing that made me nervous was, as seen in the last image, KK couldn’t keep her eyes off of me. But I guess this is quite common when someone weilds power such as I did on the theoretical se.

    Oh David – I really wanted to sleep tonight. But now your eerie talent for spotting the camera in all of your candid pics will keep me awake. Tell me honestly… Are you a meteor freak?

    The real photos are pretty intense, though. I would respect her authoritah. I’m really excited to watch that episode.

    As for the multi-tasking… She did feign interest – she asked about her project instead of going “Wow. Huh… turn to page 33 to walk through the creaky door or page 152 to turn back now… I mean – that’s really interesting, what you’re saying over there, Hanners.” That’s a step up from most insensitive and inattentive listeners (which come in both male and female flavors). Like you said, she’s probably just used to constantly hearing her friend’s voice at a low buzz in the back of her head as she continues her daily activites.

    And if it’s the last thing I do, I will find a way to use the word “cashmeredynamics” in a conversation.

    My old boss is a Belgian physicist, I’ve known him for over five years and until reading this cartoon, I’ve never been able to understand a word he says!

    Come to think of it, my Mom must have heard of this theory. She knits like Animal used to play the drums, and by the time she has finished, there’s this perfect garment that nobody saw coming!

    It’s really early here and my roommate is still asleep (It’s freaking FREEZING in my dorm room today for some reason…which really isn’t on topic…but I felt like sharing as I’m shivering right now! Brrrr!!) anywho, so I read it and started cracking up,
    I think I may have accidentally woken up my roommate! (Whoops!) Lol.
    And we were just discussing “string theory” in one of my classes the other day! How fitting!

    Now we know who knits the Doctor’s suit, which is transdimensional. In the Doctor Who story ‘The Runaway Bride’ he reveals his pockets to be bigger in the inside than the outside, with him bringing out a remote control device that is clearly far too large for his pocket. That’s why in my silly Doctor Who/Smallville crossover Doctor-Chloe Chronicles there are several jokes about what the Doctor has in his pockets. Now we know how ACME or the Time Lords do it. Nice bits of wordplay and spins on theoretical physics. Wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey!

    Of course, ACME knit portable holes, and we may have clues as to why the Fourth Doctor wore those huge long multi-coloured measuring 10 ft, 16 ft, then finally 20 ft. Chloe of course loves her long scarves, and talking of string theory, the Doctor says, “People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, talking from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball, of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff.” Now we know what the ball is. Wool! Quantum Wool! Funny, since the start of writing fanfics, I planned to have it that is was Chloe who got Madame Nostradamus to knit the famous big multi-coloured scarf the Fourth Doctor would later wear. But, that’s neither here or there. The joke in the strip is probably originally from the use of the word ‘dimensions’- the rest came from that. Hilarious!

    Now this is refreshingly hilarious. Knitting, although seemingly mundane, has got its own complexity. So if its “thermodynamics” makes it an alternative science form, then it could explain the seriousness you find in knitters when they knit with their brows “quiggled”. A new sense of importance and responsibility rests upon their shoulders, and its out to them to explore the cashmeredynamics of knitting for the betterment of mankind.

    Wow. Having almost become a physicist I find that extremely not funny. Fuck knitting. I recommend The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene. At least the first half is great. Mmmm, that’s good physics.

    Hahaha, reading the comic reminded me of how much I fret over following the knitting pattern instructions back in high school because we had to submit a presentable finished project by the end of the month. :)
