thats how you spell maintenance...got it...

I think thats just the cycle of life. We totally contradict ourselves and don't realize it until we've already done it. Although I'm always filled with highs and lows, no in between. I'll be on a strict diet one week (maybe a whole week) and get tired of it and pig out the next. Same with homework, responsibilities, and so on. I think its important to find a balance in your life, whether you think you need one or not.

love the posts.

Marissa and Kris-I like the stuff about the stickers. When I was like ten or something I had a book full of them. I ended up chucking them out or maybe I gave them to my niece. I don't rememeber.

Life's too short to waste things like that.

Wow. We're very different. I used to try to maintain everything in my life so much it actually became a bad habit. Last year for my birthday my nana gave me these beautiful flowers from her flower shop which was awesome. It wasn't until they had been dead for a couple of weeks that I actually got rid of them. Since then, my sister gave me fake flowers to put in my room. That works much better for me. They're pretty and they'll never die.

It's the same with clothing. I would wait until some of my stuff was sitting in my wardrobe collecting dust for a long time after I stopped wearing it before I would buy new stuff to replace it.

I used to really hate change. Especially in terms of letting go of anything that had any kind of sentimental value to it.
I don't mind it now. In fact, sometimes I like it.
I'm evolving too.

Hi Allison.
Maintenance is an story of life.
Life is the struggle against disorder.
Maintenance allows us to continue what we started. It is not necessary to start from the beginning. It's evolution.
We need maintenance in all aspects of our lives.
We must take care of our body by eating and washing, maintain our home, our friendships, our passions and our motivations.
Luck and patience are important in our maintenance activities.
Remember your best made in the area of maintenance. You can not maintain all if you want change.
Your 8 years as Chloe, 2 years of your blogs, your family, your friends, your passions and your career are fabulous examples of maintenance.
Thank you for allowing us to see your evolution.
Good night

Speaking of maintenance, I just pulled everything off the walls in my house and started patching, getting ready to paint. Of course there are various pictures and such leaning against the walls all over the house and sanding to do here and there. So, I go to the kitchen and remove all the cabinet doors and their hardware, wash them thoroughly and sand them a bit, take them outside and get a started on the paint. Next I pull everything out of the cabinets, boxed and strewn all over the kitchen floor clean the cabinets, sand and start painting there. Okay, back upstairs to sand a few messy putty jobs...spackle all over the floor, vacuum out with the cord unwound (just in case I need it again later.) In the mean time, my kids need lunch, my kids need dinner, help with homework and general affection; dishes in the sink and laundry left undone not to mention the trail of toys, crayons and scrap paper everywhere. Now, I'm a project starter...always have great ideas and jump in with two feet, but, well you know. This time I have myself in deep...and I'm loving it. My house is a mess! But working hard is so rewarding. I'm determined to get this done!

On a side note, I think one key to maintaining is simplifying. Too much of anything gets overwhelming and crowds out what's important.

That's an interesting observation but I don't think you're alone in it, I think the things we end up owning the longest are the things we don't realize we're overlooking...maybe they're the things that we end up really liking and being attached to. New stuff is great, and I don't think there's anything wrong with liking to buy new stuff, (so long as we don't go overboard) maybe you'll pull out that old sweater one day and remember why you bought it.

The plant issue....plants are boring. I don't blame you for unintentionally killing it, at least you take good care of your pets. Maybe you're just really not a "plant" person, lol
