The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so
long to begin it.

I don’t think I can add anything other than to say a great quote that I shall ponder, consider and try and adopt as a mantra to live by, especially when I catch myself getting caught up in lifes such trivial things, thanks for sharing Allison.

  • Susana

That quote is beautiful & so true so many of us wait sooo long to actually start living our lives or at least start to look at what we have & we don’t do anything sometimes because we are too afraid or sometimes we just don’t want to because of habit.

I love that quote thanks for sharing Allison have a great rest of your day :)

    Take Care,

    Susana

Nice quote!!!!! What I can quote is: “Carpem Diem” (seize the day) from the book “The Dead Poet’s Society”. I love this book!!!! I learnt a lot from it!!!

  • Neil

I like both quotes … his and yours!! Life is for living. Everyday is a beautiful day, go outside and enjoy it. For when this day is over, it is gone forever. Remember the past, but always live for the future!! Just Keep Living!!

That´s so true. It took me 22 years to realize that. I was living in the dark side until I realized that there was another way. The way of gratefulness instead of the way of self-pity. It was a big change and I´m very happy for it :)

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

  • Kathy-Lynn

That is so true. I’m 32 years old now and it seems like just yesterday I was in high school dreaming of being a great screen play writer, having my name become a household name. Then it was like I blinked and here I am. My husband and I are just now planning on having kids, and I’m working so hard on getting my movies and books published. I find myself wondering why I waited so long to go after my dreams. What was I doing when I was young just dreaming? Did I think it was going to come to me? Anyway great quote.

  • Lydia

WOW! Beautiful!…and I’m definitely keeping this in mind. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful quote.

  • Robin Hebert

that about says it all!!! I also like the quote, its not about how many years to your life, but the life in your years!!

  • Jackie

this quote is very true. there are so many people who sit around, depressed, and dont do anything with their life.
    me?
im going to live it to its very fullest.
im going to get crazy and not care what anyone else thinks :)

  • william

    very true, thanks allison.

That was very nice and also true.I hope that myself and others will live life head on,and not wait so long to begin what we always wanted to do.At school they always tell us “Make it a great day,the choice is yours”.And as annoying as it has become to hear,I know they are right. We have the oppurtunity to have a wonderful day everyday,if only we choose the appropriate attitude to have.We should all live our lives the way we want to,and waiting for something great to happen or an instruction manuel is not the way to go.

This was a beautiful quote indeed Allison, thanks for sharing.

  • MarilyneL

There are so many things to do! where to begin? :P Thanks for the quote! ;)

    “Live a remarkable life.”

Hmmmmn. I’m going to put that in my mantra pocket. Thank you.

I guess that I am again the voice for the minority … at least let us hope it is the minority.

I grew up too soon, started taking care of others too early, am now expected to spend my life working for others doing activities I find no joy in and get no reward for … and can hardly wait for it to all be over.

  • Carissa

Great reminder….kind of depressing…I guess it goes along with that “youth is wasted on the young” quote. ;)

  • Kathy

This is quite true! When you are young, it feels like it takes forever until you’re an adult, and then when you become an adult, time starts flying by.

That quote is truly something I will work hard to live up to. Thank you Allison, it is always delightful to read your thoughts(ok sounds weird), it has inspired me to be more thoughtful and like at myself more deeply.

hahah thats the quote ive had on my myspace for a while :)
    it is beautiful
and it seemingly pertains to almost any aspect of life of any problem we face in life.

Hey Allison! Awesome quote! It is so very true. Embrace life. You have it in front of you, so mine aswell take it right? Live it, explore it, leave your footprints. Make it your own. Life is simply remarkable.
    Take care & have fun!
    Much love & support,

Off topic, but I find it amazing that, although my Mom is old enough to be Allison’s Mom’s Mom, how much they look alike!

how do you define “beginning one’s life”? :P how do you know when you have begun living your life?
    just throwing this out there.

  • razzz

    i can’t agree more.

i’m always putting things off… delaying them, saying that i’m not ready for them yet.

for me, its another reminder to take hold of every opportunity that presents itself and be brave :)

    thanks allison!

  • Beth

    That’s a really nice quote.
    And so true.

Up until last year I’d always been hesitant to try new anything but you’ve just gotta get out there and do stuff. If you don’t like it then don’t do it again but if you don’t try new things occasionally you’ll always wonder if you’ve missed out on something.

  • Silvia

    Hi Allison,

Nice and true quote, however, I think the tragedy of life is that only few people appreciate what they have.

    Have a nice day, too.

  • Lohengrin

    Ciao Allison

“to begin to live” is strictly related to the purpose and significance we give to life.

I think that “to live” has different interpretations, one for each of us.

  • Jade Ruby

    Lohengrin Says:
    Ciao Allison

“‘to begin to live’ is strictly related to the purpose and significance we give to life.

I think that ‘to live’ has different interpretations, one for each of us.”

So true. Such are the advantages and “disadvantages” of having self-consciousness.

isn’t that the key to the fears of life that continuely try to stop us? The Bible says, “perfect love cast out all fear”.

I’m actually trying to convince a friend to go for her dream & not allow her fear to stop her.

As for me, I’m always asking the Lord not to allow me to miss a step of what His plan & purpose is for my life.

His response to me is; “if you follow me, you won’t miss a step.” Some how I always feel like I need a flash light to do that..

    Have a blessed day!
