a new and shiney computer!

OOOOO and AHHHH! I was eying the new Mac Books and then I just so happened to fry my old one when a whole carton of almond milk spilled in my bag all over my computer. Ever wonder if things that seem so coincidentally accidental are actually intentional on a subconscious level? I am not sure, but it is something to think about.

Sorry I have been a bit disconnected lately. I have lots changing and shifting in my life right now and as an effect everything seems a little up in the air and out of it. I am working on finding my footing and all will be right soon. I look forward to reconnecting with the community!

  • Stanley

Ah, synchronicity. Jungians would have a field day with you!

  • Beth

Hey that’s a good idea Ally. My laptops getting pretty old. Maybe I should ‘accidentally’ spill something on it too. Then I’d be forced to buy a new one. Kidding. I am so not that desperate. And I believe you when you say it was accidental so you’re not either.

Enjoy your shiny new Mac Book.

  • Robin Hebert

    I wanna get one too!!

I was just going to say, “Sure it was an accident!”

  • Micah

I was looking at one myself because my desktop is getting too old. I have been using a Mac way back in 93, so I guess I was eight when I started. Anyways, I love Mac and I think your awesome and a wonderful friend and person.

Renewing old stuff is essential when it comes to PC-s, as they age so fast when u leave store Yure PC will be already outdated >D Although that depends what You use it for:P Why Mac? Ive never really understanded the US flavor for Macs :D I prefer myself Pc that i have assembled according to my needs so i dont have to buy only what i can see on shelf ;) Anyways, eager to see upcoming events, Good Luck :P ,DW

  • Charles

I have no idea what that sort of computer looks like, but all I needed to know in order to determine if you made a good choice was whether it was shiny or not. And, clearly, you made a great choice. “Shiney”=best. :-)

  • Beth

    Vanessa I like your theory.

If Smallville goes onto season ten I’ll miss you too Allison. The show won’t be the same without you in it.

  • razzz

    hahahahs!!!

    new macboook! :) mmm
now i want one too .

  • Jenny

I’m a pc person myself but mac’s are cool.

I once spilled half of a bottled water in my keyboard and shorted it out. While the computer was on. Wanted a new keyboard anyways. Hated the one I had. Guess I was suppose to spill that water.

I always have trouble finding my footing at the beginning of summer vacation, so give yourself some time. It’s like I need a new routine, and feel lost without it, whilst at the same time I’m so elated to be without the looming drudgery of the stinkin routine! A love hate relationship. I love the freedom…but get a little loopy without the structure at the same time. Does this make sense?

  • Kris

Yeah sure…”Subconscious level”…I think it was pre-meditated laptop muder in the 1st degree! ;)

Have fun with the shiny new one!

  • http://dinhosmind.blogspot.com/ Edmundo

I bought a new computer too, a Dell, it would arrive within 4 days woooo!.

  • arash

I think Apple and Almond milk will be merging soon.

  • http://www.StevenKirk.com Steven Kirk

Did you lose a lot or are you one of those responsible types that backs everything up?

When my last computer melted down, it took hundreds of hours of iTunes music with it as well as a ton of graphics.

Ever seen a grown man cry? :)

  • Ashley T.

Ugh!! I am so jealous. =[
What am i talking about I’m getting one too soon.

  • thomas

Being rich can have its advantages but..

Accidents are just minor annoyances to rich folk but for poor folk accidents are tragedies. Just something to think about.

If you know subconsiuosly that you can afford to buy a whole lot of things then “accidents” will happen.

    Be careful.

  • Garrett Fletcher

    macbooks are the best!!

  • MarilyneL

right…coincidence….:P haha, but you’ve got a brand new one now…so be careful! :D

  • Susana

thats so cool. See I need a new computer but i haven’t found one that I like yet. Have fun with your new one :)

Almond milk?! That’s one of the wierdest things I’ve ever heard of. We don’t get that here – we pretty much draw the line at chocolate or strawberry…

  • Geoff

    Allison:

Don’t carry liquids in the same bag you carry your computer in. Thanks. End of public service announcement.

  • http://deleted Robin

No use crying over spilt milk…especially if there’s a brand new computer on the horizon, good luck with the instructions!

As far as our actions on a subconscious level, I mentioned a great book (blogs ago) called BLINK which is all about why we do the things we do-maybe, anyone intrested in the subject give it a go, it’s a great read!

  • Chase

Ah man, I work at the Apple store. I could have got you a nice discount. Haha

  • arash

    An apple a day,
    keeps william henry Gates away.

    Just messin with you

  • Lohengrin

    Ciao Allison,

Someone said: “when a coincidence happens, it’s never a coincidence…”.
I had an old teacher who said that when my motor-cycle didn’t work at the morning, it was a manifestation of my subconscius level that it meant I didn’t want to come to school…

Search for your footing calmly, and when you’ll find it, you can start to buit your future.

Hang in there Allison. Everyone needs a break every now and then, and you’re no different im sure :) .

    computer …

  • Amanda N.

Ha this one was fun to read.It looks like the universe was on your side with this one.Maybe the almond milk ,which I have never heard of,was meant to spill and ruin your computer. So in turn you could get a new Mac Book.I am glad everything turned out in your favor Allison.

As for the shifting of your life, that is totally understanable.I think your doing just fine. But when you get back in your comfortable pace again,I’ll be looking forward to your reconnection with us all too.

  • william

“Ever wonder if things that seem so coincidentally accidental are actually intentional on a subconscious level?”

  • James

I’m glad to hear that you’ll be alright soon.

  • Hammad

Ha! Almond milk – the desi recipe – eh? Nice. I haven’t had it in a long time, but I used to drink it every night for periods when I was a teenager.

BUT … did you get a new PEN?

I wanted this week to relax and mentally prepare for a job fair on Friday this week. Instead, I had to do hard physical labor through today and now every part of me aches. So, I went on line to see if any employers in my field had signed up for the fair and … over 10,000 people applied which blew out the computer system so registration confirmation didn’t go out. Neither did the notice that the fair was moved to a larger convention hall and ONE DAY EARLIER! I am not ready. (I promise to get to the “pen” part soon.) So my wife said I should take my step-son along so he can find a job too. He had just this week been told that, since his finance degree was earned in 2002, that employers no longer considered it valid. He and his degree are out of date. He is the advanced age of 29. So, when I found out that I may be in a crowd of well over 10,000 people and only one employer from a distant community hiring in my field, I really didn’t think it would be worth it. But my step-son could work for at least 50 of the employers, so I should go for his sake. Then I read what was expected of job seekers. My last employer told me that if I showed up for an interview wearing a tie, he would not even consider me for employment. That was almost 10 years ago. I didn’t wear a tie and I got the job. And I don’t remember ever wearing a tie on the job (and the job was a professional job — design engineer). So, for the job fair, you are expected to wear a tailored suit and all the trimmings. And some of these jobs are for the fast food industry. Everyone is supposed to carry a leather satchel with a leather clad binder for a notebook. The real killer is the instructions say that people who seriously want a job need to carry and use an expensive and elegant pen — that the pen says a lot about a person. OH MY GOD! This is a university run job fair. They are probably just passing along what it takes to get a job these days. And what’s the problem buying a nice pen if it gets you the job? Show them that you’ll play the image game and that you know that the appearance of professionalism is more important than anything else. I imagine two candidates show up for a position at a research hospital. One says “Give me a job, a lab and the proper equipment and in two years, I’ll give you the cure to cancer,” but he carries a Bic pen that go for 12 for a dollar. The next candidate says, “Give me a job, a lab and the proper equipment and in two years, I’ll learn how to SPELL kanser!” … and he carries the Cadillac of pens. Do the human resources people say, “Let’s go with the guy with the snazzy pen!” ??

Well, I have to go try to distill my 30 years experience into a few sentences and spray paint my Bic pen with metallic designer paint. Only six hours until I have to hit the road. Maybe tomorrow (because it is already 1:00am here), I can do something more enjoyable … like getting a root canal.

  • Kyle

That’s awesome, a computer will help. A little disconnection of life is necessary, don’t sweat it.

  • arash

    Talking about Pen,
Yesterday I went to renew my Health Card (Yes in Canada we have health cards :) ) I was asked to sign my name using e-signature pen and pad. I saw a bunch of names signed on the screen previously by a regular pen.
Now david if you are taking a Mac Notebook and a pen, the interview might not go as well as you plan. :)
