upswing

Had my first day on the set of the independent film I am doing called “Marilyn”. My god, what an amazing and creative summer. I can’t remember the last time I have felt this excited and passionate about the work I have been doing. It is amazing how once you actually start pushing yourself, you really get to experience and celebrate the things you are doing. I love that process. Well, at least I love it when I am in an upswing! When I am feeling a little blue it kind of sucks.

But right now, upswing central!

    Allison, I remember watching a video biography on a certain actor. Early in his career, he asked whether he should be giving 100% to all his roles, even the ‘B’ movies/low budget flicks. His friend/actor said yes. And so he did. I’m guessing had he not, we would not know the name Sam Jackson. My advice, no matter how bored you get with something, find a way to make it new, make itself feel fresh to you.

    I kind of know what you mean. I had an exam today, it went really well – it was challenging, interesting, stimulating; thus a massive upswing. However, final one tomorrow and I just realised I definitely don’t know enough. Time to sing the blues and get reading. After this though, I’m home free. Best of luck with the film :D

    I just love how accessible you are. I mean, at least for me that’s how it works, when I see an artist I like, I usually wonder how that person is ‘in real life’, if they’re nice, if they’re smart, if they’re good people… I think it’s great that I could find out that you are as amazing a person as you are an actress. You’re so down to earth, it’s amazing. I never expect famous people to be like that, and when they are it makes me like them even more.

    I’m sure this is a stupid question, but- do you research every roll you do? or can you simply produce a character out of yourself even if you have no real idea of certain type of person. Have you ever totally had to make yourself over, or has every character had a hint of you in it?
