Dance!

Last night I saw the most amazing and inspiring dance piece!

Check this company out: http://www.605collective.com/blog/. They are truly phenomenal.
It was a double bill with Amber Funk Barton, who choreographed the piece in the video. She is as equally stunning as the company itself. Here is her website -http://responsedance.blogspot.com/. She is outstanding!

See for yourself!

I find dance to be one of the most moving, interpretive, and expressive art forms. I am constantly amazed and inspired by what we are capable of!

OOOHHHH! I wanna dance!

    That. Is. Awesome.!
The capabilities of the human body in art and otherwise will never cease to amaze me.

What would I do without theatre and dance?

Yeah; dance as art is cool, and dance for fun is one of the best and most creative forms of physical exercise and physical release known to mankind. Plus as a means of creative expression it involves almost the totality of one’s physical being (save for the voice) which makes it very bold, big and powerful. So thanks for the thought-provoking vid and links.

I would like to see what you want to create as dance Ms. Allison.

The “monkey on your back” bit was funny! :)

I liked the bits where they’re both kneeling then she quickly schooches under his arched body. That made smile.

    Hi Allison.
    Thanks for the video.
WoW! it’s an amazing and inspiring dance piece!
The fluidity of the mouvements is fabulous.
The integration of this kind of dance in Films, plays or TV series would be amazing.
I hope to see them in the TV series Glee .
You could dance and sing in a series like Glee.
Bring the art of dance to the general public is necessary in the development of artists and the profession.
These amazing artists are seen only by a few thousand people while the films and series are seen by millions of people.
They will be in Montreal next April. Cool.
Welcome back to Smallville. Chloe we missed.
    Have a good weekend.
    Claude.

My eyes were glued to the screen. That dance was incredible. I love how it portrays emotions and tell us a story by the simplest movements, and in a peaceful way. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Brittany XOXOXO

I loved this! I love dancing. Anything. I love this kind of dancing, because without any words, they say so so so much! Beautiful!
    Thanks! :)

Wow, that dance was out of this world! It was one of the most unique and expressive pieces I have ever seen to date. To me, the entire snipbit told the story of the ups and downs of a relationship and how one can be independent and dependent at the same time.

What I find amazing is that the audience can interpret this dance in any way that they find the most meaning – which ties in nicely with your last post about finding meaning. We choose to find meaning where we seek it and however it suits us, and this piece definitely spoke to me.

Thanks for sharing this incredible piece of artistry with us!

At school we had a couple of art teachers who put on a lot of these kinds of ‘modern’ (‘lyrical’?) dance productions, but I just didn’t ‘get it’ at the time; being a naive scientist-in-making. Now I do ‘get it’ – and a lot of other stuff that I didn’t at the time too – so I’m always heartened that I seem to be getting *less* stuck in my ways (i.e. more broad-minded) as I age (whereas the opposite is the accepted norm).

I just can’t resist passing on my current fav’ piece of advice:

Always dance like nobody’s watching you!

  • Nanook

Wow! They were really good. I wish I could dance like that. Thanks for uploading the video.

  • Solti

Hmmm, yes, expessive art form. I was a concert show with 20000 other people last weekend. Huge displays, flexible dancers, who were phenomenal and the female singer was really awesome. She told me about her carrier and then came: a little teardrop… honesty, talent and diligence… the best inspirational mixture!

  • Smallvillekent

Wow that was an excellent video. Great dance. Glad to be back here. I was without a computer for a couple of months. Thanks Allison.

  • Solti

Oh, sorry: not ”me” but ”us”. And thanks for sharing this amazing dance piece!

  • Aziza

I miss you alot on Sville this season.. Dont stay away from us too long on tv or movies Ms. Mack :P . Did you also check out the strength dance featuring brothers from Circus De Olei(I know Im not pronouncing it right lol) That is also feats of strength and balance that is just crazy aweinspiring as well.

  • suarez1ja

Speaking of dancing, have you thought of being on dancing with the stars?! Now that you’re done with Smallville, maybe you can start your own production company & call it “Lights , camera, Macktion” . Maybe children’s theater & call it, A.C.T., Allison children theater.

  • Blueberries

Wow amazing!! If you love dance, you will love Marie Claude Pietragalla!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNUTB9wrTZA&feature=player_embedded

It’s extracted from the temptation of Eve.
“The temptation of Eve, beyond a show on the history of the woman across centuries, speaks in a private manner about female energy, about feminine of the being. This hybrid show, where are mixed dance, theatre of the body and object, guides us across women’s position in society and symbolism which she gives birth to “. This show is amazing too. Dance is really a expressive art form.

    Re: Marie Claude Pietragalla.
I loved it when she got trapped in her skirt frame – so simple, so witty and so expressive!
Thanks for sharing the link, Blueberries!

para generar un mejor efecto de la danza podrían haber mezclado contraste con la ropa de los bailarines

  • COrnfused

This is plain weird and shows an unconstructive use of time, You could have went to the zoo and watched monkeys do these moves.
