Road Trip!

Took myself on a little trek to Massachusetts today. I rode all the way there and back with the top on my convertible down. It was such a wonderful day. My radio is funky, so I sang musicals to myself the whole way. I am such a dork.

I was drawn to Mass after finding an awesome vintage steam trunk from the 30′s for sale on craig’s list (God I love that site). Seriously, how cool is this?

It is my newest art project! Stay tuned for the transformation.

I also met this super neat lady, Petria.

She’s a stylist with vintage cat-eyed glasses, fantastic style, and an awesome blog.

I walked into her store with my metallic sweater, wind blown hair, and knee high riding boots. She said, “Oh no, you are way to stylish to be from around here.”

I felt so cool.

Driving home with my trunk in my trunk I was floor by the sunset. Pink marshmallows smeared across flattened tangerine skin.

I didn’t have a camera due to the fact that I left my Iphone in the back of a taxi and have yet to replace it so instead you get this stock photo I found online!

You get the idea, yes?

All in all it was a spectacular day.

I highly recommend Great Barrington for the antiques, the stylists, and the sunsets.

Gorgeous.

    Craigslist is one of my favorite places to find things. 70% of my furniture has been found there. If by chance you search Lancaster, PA and find something, the drive is fantastic. The hills remind you of driving through the European countryside and I doubt you’ve seen as many horse and buggy’s anywhere in your life. If you didn’t need it for friends and work I’d tell you that you were better off without the phone but it would appear I’m in the minority.

    It’s refreshing how calm you are about losing your phone. I would be kinda worried…but at the same time a little relieved to be disconnected for a while.

    Antique stores are cool, you never know what you will find. Makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. Love the trunk by the way.

    First of all, that trunk is very cool. Secondly, it’s super fantastic that you lovely celebrity peeps forget and misplace things just like us regular 9 to 5 folks.     I live in Massachusettes up in the Berkshires only about a half hour from Great Barrington and it is a beautiful place here. You should come up here next fall when all the leaves are changing colors and are still on the trees because it sure does get prettier.

    Hello fellow readers,

    I am posting a few of my thoughts and comments here rather than on the more recent articles because I cannot seem to get the link to work on the above (sorry)?!

    I really wanted say what great linked article to the various productions of Hamlet and in particular the one being brought to life by inmates at a prison.

    Some say there are only 30 odd stories to be told and every possible one has been told before.
    Yet isn’t it amazing how the orginality comes from the way a story is told. I just find it so wonderful that talented people have the ability to read, analyse and think about text and stage directions written hundreds of years ago and still find new meanings, have new points of view and discover new subtext in what the author MIGHT be attempting to say and translate those words into something which has relevence and brings some attempt at understanding to our World today.

    I’ve always found reading any of Shakespere’s plays very difficult (and I’m English) and it was only thanks to my younger brother that he lent me a copy which had the original text and a page explaining some og the words, and what could be some of the issues and feelings being made by the players. Once I could relate to the words spoken and could give the play somecontext I really found the plays come alive, especially that of Hamlet.

    Every story relys on the leap of faith and imagination of those creating the work and th reader/viewer in believing in the World and characters and finding themes and situations which can be transferred to ourselves and our own daily lives.

    I always wanted to thank you for the links to sites on Leymu Gbowee and Aung Sun Suu Kyi, yes I have heard of these two women before and watched news reports, but I think it is only after reading and digging a bit deeper into the their stories that i have begun to grasp the incredible struggles they faced and continue to fight.

    I feel as though I am only beginning to become aware of these interesting people and become aware of what is happening in the World around me.

    That said, I also love the eclectic and fun different subjects are discussed and brought up.I may relate and respond to some more than others, but that in no way make any less important, just funny seeing the mix of light, heavy serious and silly occurances of our World. The video on gratitude really has made me stop and think at the start and end to each day and just breathe, look around and say thank you.
