Anne Frank says something awesome!

“How lovely to think that no one need wait a moment, we can start now, start slowly changing the world! How lovely that everyone, great and small, can make their contribution toward introducing justice straightaway… And you can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness!”
-Anne Frank

It’s proof that lovely thoughts can even be born in the most hostile environment.

    • Héctor Conte

I think they can be born wherever they are needed

    • http://twitter.com/jhamilton_hall James Hall

Uh, like the hostile environment of outer space itself?

Stop trying to ruin the mood. You know exactly what I mean. And for the record, yes.

  • Zsolti

    Szia Allison!

I believe that everything happens for a reason. Inspirational quote. Thanks for sharing :) !

    • Héctor Conte

And when it seems there are no reasons for something, it’s not that, it’s just that we don’t know the reason… yet.
Sorry! House MD – need to quote :)

Thanks for reminding us of this exemplary quotation; one which has caused me to recall this one in a similar vein:

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
Edmund Burke, Irish statesman, author and philosopher (1729-1797)

    • Héctor Conte

I recently heard someone speaking about the same idea, but expressing it like this “If you are not busy, if you don’t keep your mind doing something, well, that’s when evil comes in”.

      I like yours better though.

  • HomelyPoet

The sentiments are meritorious I am sure,
but I wouldst wait the moment out to decide the best recourse.
If I want to change the world for the better,
then wouldst my cause not be best served if ‘better’ were first defined?
And why wouldst I stop at merely introducing Justice,
should not Justice be thy greatest acquaintance, nay thy kindred spirit?
    Then again,
as Justice is a cruel Mistress,
wouldst we really want rampant, incontrovertible, autocratic Justice?
Magnanimity, though, in all, is, even so, just.
And thus, wouldst be the point towards striven by Miss Frank,
and, as so, is quite appealing.

    Thank You, Miss Mack.

  • Dgroves22

I like it alot. Especially, since kindess to me is not only being courteous, but also listening, understanding, giving a helping hand if need be. Just giving some of your time to be there for someone.

    • Héctor Conte

And maybe that’s how to achieve happiness, with someone else.

  • http://twitter.com/GuyanaGyul24 Allana O. S

So true. I think I’ve always kinda felt intimidated by this quote. Working on it though.

    • Héctor Conte

Try to apply it, that may help!

  • Luilui09

Is so wonderfull know that someone in other place of the planet with diferent experiences has the corage to write and share the kind of things that you may think at the same time, and always happend to me when I enter in this page.
Thank you for you words and messages, I feel so grateful because still exist people like you with so energy to continue and always trying to make the world a better place to live.
From Venezuela, my best wishes to you Allison. besos

    • Héctor Conte

No me había encontrado con otra persona que hablara español aca, hasta ahora :)

  • http://twitter.com/jhamilton_hall James Hall

That is spot on, there are so many around that just love to be cruel instead.

    • Héctor Conte

Because (and I’m quoting Smallville) it’s easier to be cruel, but stronger to love.

      • http://twitter.com/jhamilton_hall James Hall

Something that may be forgotten these days in this individualist culture is we are still the Human Family.

        • Héctor Conte

More than that, we, every life form, are a family. And I don’t think we forgot that, It’s just that some people are trying to divide and conquer and we are underestimating the power of union, the power of love.

    Such an great inspiration!
My younger sister, who’s in Europe at the moment, told me about a month ago that she went to the Anne Frank museum and was so immersed in the story that she bought The Diary of Anne Frank. I’ll definitely be borrowing that when she gets back next week :)

  • Kendra

It’s very true. Sometimes just opening the door for a person can change their perspective for the entire day. :) Being kind and treating each other with respect is the starting point to changing everything.

  • Robin

    What a wonderful quote.
Definitelythoughts to keep in mind throughout each day!

    Thanks for the reminder.

  • Artisanchabumaro

Hi,from Japan. Anne Frank’s diary is something I’ve read in when I was in junior high. I thought of it as things of the past, and thought that people are clever enough not to repeat a a such.

But now I see what’s happening in Japan especially in Fukushima and surrounding prefecture the same as the Auschwitz in many ways. The truth is that Tokyo is more polluted than the Chernobyl and will take a same path.

I and some other’s tried to tell people the truth about the danger and so on. I thought of the life of the others and put myself at risk telling people to evacuate. But it turned out that we’re like a Jea?ne-d’Arc, and we are blamed on for denying the government’s comment of safety which is not only a lie but a betraying the Japanese citizen.

I decided to move out of Tokyo to the far south Fukuoka and re-started my life. I am an artisan for the Japanese Imperial Family, but decided it might be time to let it go. It’s going to be hard, but as you mentioned these words by Anne Frank, it made me think again in many means. I have a fear for the future not only of the Nuclear substance but also how I can continue with my dream. I can’t give it up, I want to achieve what I have in mind.

But right now, I need some rest yet have to make living. It’s tough but I gotta get over it.

I want to apologize to the people around the world for the Japanese government’s criminal act of spreading the nuclear substance to the world(It is still spreading out more and more each day). I just want to apologize…I’m sorry for what my country has done and are doing.

If anyone can throw me a kind words, it would really save me.

I want to thank Allison for giving me a chance to say what had been laying in my heart for some time and was unable to tell.

    • Héctor Conte

Hey! It’s not your fault, is not like you put a bomb next to the nuclear power plant, or that you planed it! (well hope you didn’t do the last one) so don’t be like that, government… makes mistakes, like we all do, and anyway, we (humanity) have been trough a lot of dark things worst than a nuclear poison.

What we have to do, is to help each other, in anyway we can, it’s only that way that we are going to survive.
And for the ones who made the mistake… well the only thing that can be done is to try to fix it, regretting it won’t bring a change.

  • Hecconte

    Wow! Really, an awesome quote!

I heard about Anne Frank before, I know her story and all… but… I never quite got in to it. This actually makes me wanna now about it!

Just to say something about the content of the quote (though this time I will, as a kind of experiment, express that trough answers to the already made comments), I believe, I know, that either you are the one who wants to change the world, or the one who needs to be saved, it will be shown to you how to do it, opportunities to start now, slowly change the world!

  • Anonymous

Ahh awesome quote!!!! And it’s awesome to read you again, too!!!! thanks bonita!!xoxo

Glad to see (via IMDb) you’re scheduled to be in a movie this year. It’s schlock by the looks of it but you have plenty of fans and if the last few years of S-ville are any indication, you have a gift for elevating the material. Wishing you well and hoping we see you in more movies or as a regular on a TV show soon. (Theater is great but hardly anyone ever gets to see it, which is too bad.) Also your blog here (assuming this is all really by you) is refreshingly open and intelligent. Good luck.

  • Tenotspam-bman

Kindness should be all that is needed to change the world. This is such an amazing quote. It is because of you, Allison, and your ex-co-workers from Smallville that I have become a good person interested in helping others and trying to make the world a better place. It’s just sad that more people don’t feel the same way.

  • Luke

You should a question page or something to your site, something that is easier and a better way for you fans to interact with you rather than just leaving comments, also there should be a way for you to interact with the comments people leave.

Do you actually read the comments or is it just a way to say our opinion to the other viewers of the site.

Anne Frank’s life. An Inspirational life. An educational life.
