I wanna go!

There are some places in the world I am DYING to visit and India is on the top of the list. I have such an affinity for the colors, the music, the tradition and the mania that make up this beautiful country.

    Allison,
    Nice pun and video. I seem to recall that the people dye their cities during special religious festivals and the colors mean something different for each town and sect. The dyes are water soluble and disappear with the rains. This has a meaning to them as well. I think it would be a fascinating place to visit also.
    Food, music, dance, more more: it is a huge, ancient, culture we should learn more about. It wouldn’t hurt to add more vegetarian to our diets also. I also like their men’s colorful dress clothes, Sherwani I think, much more than the basic black dress tuxedo westerners wear.

    Every few years I read Paul Scott’s Raj Quartet – Jewel in the Crown series. It literally transports me to another place and time. His descriptions of the Indian landscape paint pictures in my mind and the plot line mirros the turbulent changes the country underwent as it wrested its independence from the British crown. There’s an incredible amount of underlying psychological implications between the characters and what was happening in India. Like all countries, the changes between the 1940′s and today are dramatic – but I have still always believed that Scott’s description of the light, the rain, the smells and the ancient locations would hold true. I would certainly like to find out some day.

    I’m writing an essay on patriotism and in it i mention about how Mahatma Gandhi fought for the freedom for our country and it helped me realize the amount of passion that this man possessed that he was willing to confidently sacrifice anything because he believed that his people deserved the freedom to walk on the soils that fed on their sweat for ages by not being restricted by aliens(The British).They still haven’t returned our precious diamonds.It also amazes me how Martin Luther King Jr. was deeply influenced by him to the extent that he visited Gandhi’s birthplace and spoke on the radio there.Anyways, glad to know your appreciation for our country guys.Interesting stuff on here on this page.Allison,if you ever do go, make sure you visit Kerala.They call it “Gods own country”for a reason.

    Hey Allison, :) how are you? i am a fan of yours, ive been watching Smallville…and i am nuts about it already….i just started the first few seasons…:) i think you look beautiful..and you have a great sense of style especially as Chloe, who is by the way my favourite character aside clark ofcourse :) ) heyy i noticed this post today, actually have you ever heard of SriLanka? its the small island below india!! and may i say that both countries are pretty similar, not just the culture, even the clothes…and the same weather….you should try visitting sometime..we have some great beaches here…i have a ton of questions :) ))) and i hope you will reply!!! 1. what was it like on the smallville set? what was it like with all the cast members and if u could describe them..how would it be…(cast members like clark, lana, pete, lex, oliver, lional, martha, johnathan) whats your favourite colour and boook!!!
