So as you all know, I have just returned from a most amazing weekend in Albany, New York! The A Cappella competition was truly fabulous! I was completely blown away by our capacity as human beings to create something with nothing but our natural organs. It was such an awesome example of how fantastic we are, outside of all the stuff we do… All the material items and effects we have in the world are truly just reflective of us… Yet they do not in any way define us. Wow! What an awesome concept.

This is something I feel l struggle with every day, and to have a weekend that celebrated nothing but the magnificence of our vocal chords and the beauty that we can create as a simple team of people was so truly inspiring! It was two days filled with laughter and joy, all based around the incredible things we do! I hope to spend more of my time creating and exploring all the wonderful things we are capable of doing together! It is such a lovely reminder of what is really important about life… Because ultimately when it is all over, it is the experiences that you have that you will forever cherish… Not the stuff you collect! Life is about rejoicing in our humanity! What a beautiful thing! I hope to see you all at the next one!If you want to check out some more A Cappella stuff visit the or check out Naturally 7 on YouTube! They are amazing!

I’m glad the competition was such a success, Allison. The pictures are cool. I agree with all you said, always pursing material things is just a frivolous endeavor, but experiences with friends and family are so much more valuable in the end. I’ll be sure to make the next competition if its in my neck of the woods.

‘Life is about rejoicing in our humanity!’ This is so true. You said it beautifully.

I’m happy you’ve had such a great time and that this experience brought even more depth and richness to your life.

Thank you for the pictures. You (and Kirstin) look gorgeous and it’s obvious that you’re really enjoying yourself.

    Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Yeah you’re right people are mostly creating some king of connection a link between themself and material things they are collecting. Its not good imo. I’m trying to be independent. Imagine that your house is on fire and you have only few secounds to think what to take with you. I think I have too much things I would want to take. It would be amazing to not have things we need to take with us. Things that are so much connected to us that they are half part of us. Most value things should be our family feelings, experience. πŸ™‚

    cheers Allison πŸ™‚

I love a cappella music. It is so absolutely stunning that voices and voices alone can create such an orchestra of sound. I can remember back in my ol’ fire-sharing download days finding scores of a cappella songs, most of which were pop songs redux. And it was amazing to hear the inventiveness behind the groups to approximate those pop songs and yet make them their own. Actually made the music that much more touching. I think that speaks to what you experienced.

    Thanks for the share.

File-sharing not fire-sharing. Though fire-sharing does sound like something a bit more mystical and intriguing, doesn’t it……….?

    beautiful pics!!!
    two lovely women….
and now… I want take your blog…. and make a little tribute to JOHN LENNON……

“It was 27 years ago today….when John was killed. Such a sad day for mankind…..

” In honor of John Lennon I’m posting the best work….. IMAGINE…

    Imagine there’s no heaven
    It’s easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today…

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one……

    imagine…. by John Lennon…

The A Cappella Innovations was a blast!! The college groups did an amazing job performing, and they should all be proud of themselves. The House Jacks did a wonderful job with their performance, and they were good sports taking requests for songs (even if they did not know them) πŸ™‚ Allison, it was a pleasure getting to meet you and Kristin in person. My apologies on getting my Anna’s mixed up!! I do hope Anna Murphy is doing well, please give her my regards!! Thanks again for taking time to chat!! BTW, where can I e-mail photos I took at the event?

    Kindest regards,
    David Harvey

( πŸ™‚ ) Hi beautiful Allison! Looks like you and Kristen Kreuk had a great time. I particularly liked photo # DSC01458. The expression on your face is so telling Allison! You appear to have a great attitude. I’m sure Kristen Kreuk is unable to control her laughter when in your company. Great to see you two doing something to help inspire others. Both of you are beautiful, inside and out! πŸ˜‰

I spent that weekend alone in my basement fasting and thinking about my future. I probably would have enjoyed myself much more at the festival. I guess that’s not saying much … basement life isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. Still, it was better than what life had in store for me at the top of the stairs.

I will seriously consider attending B Cappella next year or C Cappella in 2009. You can definately count me in for D Cappella in 2010. I hope they have some Pantomime A Cappella groups in 2010. They really show what you can choose not to do with what you’ve got!

    Take Care,

I have to admit, I haven’t visited this site in quite awhile, and I was missing out. I miss reading your blogs. . . they’re so insightful and I’m often amazed at how eloquently you can express huge ideas that I know I wouldn’t even begin to fathom. Bravo!

This entry stuck out at me, though, because it’s about my first and foremost love: music. The competition sounds like an absolute blast and having looked up some photos online, I must note that you and Kristin 1) both look amazing and 2) look like you had a blast. No better thing than enjoying time with friends!

I wish, so much, that I had the opportunity to attend events like these — heck, even being able to go see “Wicked” on stage would be nice! XD I often feel like I’m alone in this little town of 700, being so involved in music and wanting nothing more than to immerse myself in that world and do what I love. Others having farming, sports, going out: I have recording sound bits on my computer after school for hours at a time and playing them back, trying to teach myself not to go flat or get nasally. xD

Anyways, I feel like I’m rambling. One other thing I wanted to comment on was YOUR amazing voice — I knew you were an amazing actress and so many other wonderful things, but finding out that you could sing and hearing you really made my day. I would love to hear you sometime on Smallville (gah! that’d be so neat!), or, is there any chance you’ll do a record? πŸ˜‰

    Kudos! The show’s going great!
