As someone who struggles to be on time, this article is a pretty major ouch – a good ouch. I wouldn’t say my tardiness is exactly my best trait, but ouch nonetheless. It is true – we don’t take into consideration how fleeting this life is, but we also don’t take the time to have compassion for people and their struggle.

One time I got pissed at a massage therapist because she canceled the day of our massage, only to discover her autistic brother was in town for the first time in years…yeah…I felt like a douche.

We make so many assumptions and then judge based on what we imagine, which is always worse than what actually is. So while I agree with the harsh feedback RE: perpetual lateness, I prefer to air on the side of, “Easy up tiger, there are wayyyy bigger fish to fry.”

i know how it feels to be the one getting the harshness thrown at them. i am disabled and walk with a cane and yes infortunately very slow.you wouldnt believe how many people get mad at me because i may hold them up for an extra min or so.but then i have run into those people who are actually kind and say its ok just take your time.

I use to have a lady who worked for me that was always 10-15 minutes late. My bosses wanted to get rid of her because of that. I finally sat her down one day and asked what was going on. Turns out her grandchildren had been left at her house, and she now had 3 kids to take care of. I simply adjusted her schedule, allowing her to come in later and she became one of my best employees, and was hardly late ever again.

I often struggle with tardiness as well, but I’ve learned to just start getting my backside in gear. It’s called common courtesy. Unfortunately, that seems to be lost in today’s “me” world.

I struggle with this often, mostly due to health. Sometimes it really annoys people and I feel horrible, other times I feel the world has bigger problems.
