The Cookie Lady

Meet “The Cookie Lady.” Hair as red as my best friend Jenny’s face when we used to talk about the boys she loved in 6th grade. A rip in her matching red dress that ever-so-delicately held itself together on her right bosom.

“The Cookie Lady.”

Speaking in a tone that sounded like she was going to rip someone’s face off if they continued to breathe at that irrational and inappropriate level, but saying words that couldn’t contradict the sentiment more.

“The Cookie Lady.”

A woman who tracks the people who do nice things for her and spends countless hours baking love into bars and cookies.

An inspirational character.

I would like to take a lesson from “The Cookie Lady.”

For my next MackEvent, I think we should all bake a box of cookies for someone who has done something nice for us and leave it, unsuspecting, on their doorstep.

Hey all!!!

I know you must have thought that I dropped off the face of the earth because you have not heard from me in so long… but HOORAY! I am not dead! In fact, I am very much alive!
And, I want to send out the next celebration event!!!

This week, I am trying to focus on joy!

Again, I seem to find myself getting totally stuck in the negative, and I forget how amazing and beautiful the world is! So this week, let’s try and collect joy. Mack Event: Build a fort

Remember when you used to turn the coffee table upside down and line it with pillows only to drape the whole thing with a sheet or a blanket and hide out all day in your secret fort?

Wasn’t that the coolest thing ever? Let’s revisit!

Hey! Happy February!

It’s the month of love, or at least that’s what I equate February to, and so I think the Mack Event I would love to highlight is “Steal a kiss.” Find a kiss, whatever that kiss is, and post it on my site! I have seen some of the most amazing pictures of strangers kissing… I have come across some of the most beautiful lips that stained a napkin in a bar… So steal a kiss! Find one and post it!

Haiku

A little late– sorry, guys. Those of you who have a Juicy Peach calendar might have recognized I’m a little late announcing the next Mack Event! Now, I’m playing a bit of catch up and will announce it: the next celebratory event is to write a haiku on your bathroom wall! Remember writing haikus for your third grade poetry project? I certainly do, and they always seemed so peaceful and serene.

So I’m trying to bring some of that peace and calm into my somewhat insane existence right now. I thought, “Just focus on a haiku.” It’s nice to have something so simple to focus my manic energy on, you know? A simple 5-syllable line, then a 7-syllable line, then another 5-syllable line are all the poem requires!

So either write your own or someone else’s, but take a bit of time to enjoy the simplicity of this beautiful little poem. Oh, and the whole bathroom part is just to keep things interesting… And also because I’m a little tired of reading about the horrors of capitalism and that Johnny loves Mary on the bathroom walls of my favorite restaurants… But since I can’t exactly encourage you all to deface public property by writing on public bathroom walls, I figured I would suggest writing it on your own wall. but the point really is just to write it.

OK! Have fun, and photograph, scan, or just send in whatever you have written! I’ll submit mine ASAP, but here is an example to let you know what the darn poems look like in the first place.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to 2008, a year of change, growth, inspiration and excitement! I am so jazzed about the prospects of this year that I could do a cartwheel! That, oddly enough, leads me to the next “MackEvent”!

Start the new year off right by doing a physical example of how you feel about the new year! In the Juicy Peach calendar I titled the event, “Do an acrobatic move in public.”
Really what this means to me is to film, photograph, draw, or use whatever medium you want to show yourself physically manifesting the way you feel about the new year!

I wanna see how you are feeling about the next 12 months ahead! Show me what you got!

Hey, everyone! Thank you all so very much for the awesome pictures! It’s so, so cool to be able to see you the way you see me! I feel like I have such a better idea of who you all are! It was also so much fun to see the different and creative ways everyone expressed themselves through this project! I loved experiencing each of your individual expressions! OK, so now this week’s project is a little more personal and creative! I would love to see each of you draw a self portrait using one continuous line! That’s right! The challenge is to never let your pen leave the page! A la Picasso! Have fun! Here is Kristin’s and Chad’s. My favorite season of the year is coming to a close, and Iâ€™m collecting as many of the precious leaves that have fallen as I possibly can. Iâ€™m always overwhelmed by the natural beauty that surrounds us, and I think that the unbelievable fire that radiates out of the fall leaves is astounding! So, let’s not let them disappear without taking the time to appreciate and document them. Find a leaf you think is awesome and combine it with a person you love!
