“To make a revolution, people must not only struggle against existing institutions. They must make a philosophical/spiritual leap and become more ‘human’ human beings. In order to change/transform the world, they must change/transform themselves.”

Grace Lee Boggs, from her autobiography Living for Change (via beingblog)

Whilst I was never a big Michael Jackson fan, I always admired the sentiment behind his song “Man in the Mirror”:

“I’m starting with the man in the mirror; I’m asking him to change his ways; And no message could have been any clearer; If you wanna make the world a better place; Take a look at yourself and then make a change”

    Exactly.
You cannot change the world until you change yourself first.

Reminds me of the Yoko Ono quote that Allison posted a while ago:
“Watch your thoughts for they become words. Choose your words for they become actions. Understand your actions for they become habits. Study your habits for they become your character. Develop your character for it will become your destiny.”

If you don’t change your thoughts, you cannot change your destiny…or anyone else’s.

To make a revolution, the process must be transparent, it is important not to use manipulation as do the existing institutions.
